What is the Best video card for gaming I can get in the $0-$80 price range?

Ok so now i have an 8400 gs 256 with 512 mb turbocache ddr2 overclocked to

637 core 1274 shader 469 mb

I saw this video card and it quite impressed me http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

will their be a big difference if i switch from a 8400gs to a 4670 1gb ddr3|||Yes there will be a big difference.

The 8400GS GPU is very weak, and it uses turbocache, which means for additional memory it hijacks some of your system RAM to use for itself, and that slows things down.

The 4670 is a midrange card with a faster GPU than the 8400GS and it has its own dedicated 1GB of memory and uses none of your system RAM. You will definitely see an improvement in 3D gaming performance.

Best Video Card in Price Range?

Hi. I am trying to decide whether I want a regular, mid or expensive video card for my computer. I play some games, but right now I want your opinion on what is good. I know nVidia and ATI make cards and I don't want to get into a "who's better" argument. What I would like to ask all you computer experts out there is to recommend one card from each category. Here are the features I would like to have:

1). PCIex16, 1 Gig RAM ($125 or less) or recommend one that will be good with other spec

2). PCIex16, 1 Gig RAM ($125 - $225)

3). PCIex16, 1 Gig RAM ($225 - $325)

I can't afford more than $325 for a video card, so please, no really expensive ones!

I only want to buy one card to fit into one slot, but if a video card has more than one GPU core, that's fine.

Games I am thinking of: Crysis, Left for Dead, Call of Duty, WoW|||Do you already have a sufficiently sized PSU (Power Supply Unit) to run a newer dedicated video card or should that be factored into the price range?

I'd recommend looking over the Tom's Hardware: "Best Graphics Cards For The Money: January 2011" article linked below. They categorize cards by performance and price ranges, which should cover what you are looking for. Of course pricing changes from day to day from online vendors, but it should get you an idea of what cards fall in range for you.|||For option #1

Check out the GTS 450

please just ether put the number that's better and why it better|||The 460 GTX

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/1…|||The 460 is a little faster, but the 5770 has a little more memory. Not enough to make up for the other little differences though.

To sum it up, 460 wins.

Which video card is the best and for the price?

512MB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 240M [subtract $150.00]

1GB DDR3 ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5730 [subtract $100.00]

1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5850 Add $0.00

1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M [Included in Price]

1.5GB GDDR5 65W NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460M [Add $150.00 or $4.00/month1]|||I'm going to assume you will be using this laptop for gaming purposes, otherwise there's no point in any of these video cards.

If you're familiar with desktop video cards, the GTX 460M will perform slightly worse than a desktop GTS 450. It is the top performer of that series, unsurprisingly. You get what you pay for.

Any laptop with those upper end video cards will have a relatively short battery life of < 90 minutes due to the very high drain those video cards impose on the battery. You want a cooling pad or tabletop between that laptop and your lap to avoid overheating.

I would opt for the HD 5730 as being both very capable of playing all games while not being a budget buster. You may be less price sensitive and more performance oriented than I.|||I would prefer the last item. The video card may not be appropriate for laptops.|||I would personally go with the ATI 5850. I've had good experiences with ATI cards, and they tend to give me the most bang for my buck.

When buying a video card for my comp what are the most important things & specs I should look at besides price

What should I look at core clock, memory clock, memory amount what? Oh and what do I need to be able to run high level 3d games.|||http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.h…

The above link is a visual representation comparing "video card" performance.|||weather or not it will work with your mother board.

Good video card for a good price?

here is my dilemma. i just got a new computer and here are the specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)

Q6600 Quad Core 2.4GHz

6GB Memory/RAM

750GB Hard Drive + 500GB External

Blu ray/HD DVD Optical Drive

HP w2207h 22" LCD Monitor

Sony MHC-EC98P 530 watt speakers

Logitech MX Air mouse

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard

and to top it off... ATI Radeon HD 3450 256mb graphics/video card.

i'm sure the guys at acer had a good laugh when they decided to build this computer, i'm not a computer genius but then again i'm not uneducated. i want to know what is a good video card that is worth my time and money upgrading to so i may enjoy these types of games:

- Need for speed undercover

- Grand theft auto IV

- Battlefield 2

- Call of duty 4

- Crysis

i hope you guys get the idea of what kind of a computer user i am by the info and hopefully you can give me a good video card upgrade recommendation, i don't want you guys to waste your time and try to find me a good deal, that's my job but if you have something in mind please feel free to share, my budget is around 150-200 before taxes however 200 is kinda pushing it for me. if anyone lives in canada and is near a bestbuy go look for this computer seriously. ACER AM5620-E5512A. thats the product, it was 699.99 my dad haggled it for 720 flat (monitor and speakers were not included, but oh well :P). THANKS ALOT!|||The Radeon 4850 is in your price range, just barely.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.asp…

Shipping here will vary depending on where you live but all costs are in C$ and are up front. I too live in Canada and have had good experiences with this outfit.

Good luck.|||I'd recommend a 9800GTX. It'd be a significant upgrade and should run about $150.

Need for Speed Undercover? I miss the old-skool NFSs... like Porshe Unleashed. That was a good game.|||Crysis is the tough one there. You'll need at least an nVidia Geforce 8800GT with a minimum of 512mb of onboard ram. To be safe, I'd go with the 9800GT. From ATI, the Radeon HD4870 with a minimum of 512mb of ram should get the job done.

What video card do you recommend in the $120 - $150 price range?

The HD radeon 6850 would probably be the best for ATI/AMD that you would get and that is around the 150 dollar mark, For nVidia it would probably be the GTX 550Ti at around $125|||Anything.

Honestly, there isn't much difference in price with graphics cards. Two 150 dollar graphics cards are likely to have very similair performance.

If you want the most performance for your money, check what graphics cards you can buy and then find the cheapest one. i.e: An MSI 6850 might be cheaper than an ASUS 6850, while the only difference is the cooling methods of the cards.

What video card would be best for my computer?

Right now I have a Intel 82865G. I have an IBM with 2GB ram, 250 GB hard drive with a Pentium 4 2.8GHZ.

I have found a Sparkle SF8855-DT GeForce FX5500 256MB AGP Video Card which seems good and fits my computer... do u have any better suggestions? For a low price. I'm looking for something to play games with, not high quality but something like halo and aoe.|||Personally, I think either of the FX5500 cards would do fine for older games. You're definately going to need an AGP card so it seems like you've done your homework there.

I personally stay away from Sparkle's products however as they tend to have probems with the memory aswell as being known as a budget brand.

There are newer cards you should be able to pick up however which should give you a bit more performance without costing you more. Some people might think the P4 could be a bottleneck which may limit performance from some cards but I highly doubt it.

Have a look at these:

Geforce 6600, 6800

ATI radeon 9500, 9550 and 9600

I've seen these on ebay for around 25 pounds. They're really good performers for your needs and if you're not a big gamer they'll most likely do you until your computer bites the dust.

Try and get one from a seller that will send it in a static proof bag provided it doesn't have the original box. You'll know it's been handled properly then.

Is my video card compatible with the sims 3?

My video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G is it compatible with the Sims 3? Because when I try to play it shuts off after 10 minutes of play it says it's not. If not what video card can I get that would be compatible, and what would be the price range?|||Compare the games minimum and maximum specifications to those of the lap top.

Minimum specifications for The Sims 3 game which are:

CPU: (XP) 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent; (Vista) 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent [If built-in graphics chipsets then 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent.]

Video Card?

Which video card is better for the price AND performance?

1.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130334

2.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150275|||Tough call.... Normally I'd opt for the 8800gs simply because the cartegory of a card is generally more important than the generation of the card. The 6800 series outperformed the 7600, the 7900 cards smoked the 8600 models, and so on...

So a mid-range 800 vs a newer entry-level 600? Gimme the better card from an earlier series. BUT- Since this is a GS rather than a full-blown GT, I'll say go with the 9600GT.

.

The head to head comparison is linked below:|||Thats kind of tought. The 9600GT is a newer card, but a lower model. The 8800gs is an older card, but a middle size model.

looking at the specs you probably would want to get the 9600GT. But search the internet for reviews of this card, they usually well compare it to other cards in the same price range.|||the 9600 is better but you might consider an 8800gt which would be much better than both and with some of them having recent discounts and mail in rebate might be only 20 more than the 9600gt here's a comprehensive list of the BEST cards to own and it's sorted by price range. and give explanations and review of many cards.

good luck|||The first one is better, however the second one will do even the most graphic intensive games.|||8800

Which processor/video card combo is better for the same price?

Which is better, a laptop with an Intel Pentium processor (T4500) 2.3GHz with integrated intel HD graphics, or an AMD Athlon II processor (2.1GHZ) with a separate ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics card? Both laptops cost the same and everything else is identical except the processors/graphics cards.

The main use will be for basic web browsing and word processing.|||I would say go with the AMD because even if it is slower, AMD athlon II is way better than intels pentium dual core processor. Also the Radeon HD 4250 is better because it is not integrated. If I was going to use it for web browsing and word processing, there is basically no difference you will see. You will only see the difference when you are playing games.|||okay, well the thing is that any laptop with a dedicated card will always be better then integrated, meaning from the motherboard.

Go with the laptop with the AMD Athlon II Processor/ATI HD4250. You may lose .4ghz in the end, but that is minuscule. You will, however have way better graphics

Best video card for the price?

hi, im looking for the cheapest video card capable of running games like call of duty 4 or assassins creed smoothly, any brand is ok, thanks.|||Cheapest ? put 4670 into search on Newegg under desktop graphics ...but if you want it to be really good you start at about $200.00

What does a video card do?

I asked this question before but didnt get the answer i was looking for. I want to know what an expensive video card has and does that makes it any better that a $50 card. Will the graphics look any different on the two cards.

Right now I have integrated ATI Xpress 200. I want to know if buying a GeForce 7600GT is worth it. What will be different on my computer if i buy this card. Will the picture be any different? If I max out my settings on my ATI playing half life 2 and compare it to maxed out settings on the 7600 will it visually look any different.

What i'm tring to say is when i play cs source or half life 2 will the picture that a see be graphically better with a more expensive card or is the price dependant on the clock speed, memory and memory speed, and brand.|||I'm guessing your ATI Xpress 200 is integrated. Integrated video steals CPU, and system memory so If you buy a Ge-Force 7600 GT, it will isolate those factors and leave your CPU and memory alone. A Ge-Force 7600 GT can play plenty of games but to the naked eye, all the graphics are about the same compared to the highest end cards. The main difference is the FPS (Frames Per Second), depending on your CPU it may increase your FPS if you buy a more expensive card. The higher the FPS the smoother the gameplay will be.|||There are several different "processors" in a PC. The most common, and most complex, is the CPU, or Central Processing unit. This is the chip that people talk about when they say "I've got a 2.4 giga-hertz AMD" or "I've got a Pentium 4".

There are other processors as well. The next most powerful in modern systems (eclipsing the Northbridge in old systems - this happened about 1995) is the Graphics Processing Unit, or GPU, which is usually found on a videocard, though in your case it is currently found on the motherboard (which also holds the CPU, memory, and basically everything else).

GeForce is the name of the GPU chip made by nVidia. The 7600GT is their latest (or close to latest - they release a new one every three months and I'm not a gamer so I don't follow this) model card. Integrated video cards smell.

So what will be the difference in CS Source? nothing to start out with. The difference is that now you can enable all sorts of better rendering options (lighting, shadows, etc) and use higher resolutions while still getting higher frame rates that make for a more smooth visual experience.

Do you really need to spend the cash for the new card? That depends. If you're happy now, probably not. If you're not that happy, then probably. If you're a real gamer, you have to just so you can claim that you have it and brag to all you friends (did I mention earlier that I am NOT a gamer).

So yeh, that's the deal on video cards. Personally, I would spend the money on a decent midrange card, a set of surround sound speakers and a soundcard (creative labs of course) which can drive them. Your overall experience is going to be much better off, becuase now you have a decent card so you can turn the essential stuff on, and you have a cool sound system so you can hear the guy run up behind you and smack you in the head with a shovel.|||it has many purposes|||It depends.

If you never play 3D games, just solitaire you are saving money as you will never see any difference.

However if you play 3D games a better video-card will make the water sparkle, animation flow and make you smile.

Half-life II will definitely look lots better with a better card. It however has nothing to do with how much you pay for it. CS will look about the same though animation flow may improve depending on the number of players.

How well will the BFG Geforce 8600 GTS 256MB PCIe Video Card play World of Warcraft?

Newegg.com has a Canadian shop that you can buy from...|||Probably, if you get a 512MB Graphics card you will most definitely be able to play it on high with those specs. But I do recommend getting 2 GB RAM.|||First that card is way overpriced.Secondly you should add at least 1 more gig of ram to get the best preformance. That card should push about 40 fps consistently.|||You don't need a HUGE video card to play WoW, it is a relatively graphic-simple game.

If this is correct, then none. Laptops by nature do not allow the end user to upgrade the GFX card. Laptops have the GFX either in the CPU, or it is soldered to the motherboard, or Logic Board if Mac.

EDIT: Just noticed the 5750 is almost dead on par with your card. Something to keep in mind is that ATI cards tend to work better for DirectX apps, where NVidia's are better for OpenGL - from my own experience with both DirectX games and OpenGL based games.

To get any serious increase in performance for an ATI card, you'd be looking at the 5800 series which start around $290.|||it all depends on how much you wanna spend. that card looks fine I have 9800m gts and i can play any game i install on my labtop. anything that has been out the last year or 2 should be fine to get

What would be a GREAT video card to buy?

Saying i have a MAX price range at 450 bucks. What would be a GREAT video card? And what would its capabilities be? As this is for being able to play better video games, please give an example of what the "highest" game i could play. By that i mean a game that would be "hard to play" as in it would take a top of the line computer to play it. When answering this question ASSUME all of the other parts of my computer are top of the line.|||In that price range, I would go for an ATI HD 5870. The only graphics card better than that one is the ATI HD 5970, which is two 5870 GPUs on a single card (and costs around $700). There are a number of good brands of that chipset in that price range. This search will show you what's available at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

That card should be able to play any game currently out. Exactly how fast it would be would depend on which game, what graphics effects you enable (anti-aliasing, particle effects, etc) and the resolution of your monitor. To get some idea, look at the high-end graphics benchmarks here: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gamin… Choose any one of the games to see how it fares. You can also see what effect screen resolution and graphics processing have on frame rates for various games.

The feature about the ATI HD 5000 series cards that I would really like to try is Eyefinity - the ability to use three or six monitors side-by-side as one single monitor. This graphics card is extremely powerful and will EASILY handle any game on the market that you may desire to play. It will be able to play high end games in the future at great settings for at least the next 2-3 years, so very future proof.

It can be found for as little as $379 from newegg.com

If your looking for a long term fix this is a good card. Also you can use Ntune to OC (overclock) the card and squeeze some extra performance out of it.

Also if your pc has not heat problems you can OC your CPU, but this is dangerous and should only be done once you have learned a LOT about how to do it. Also look it up on youtube and see what can go wrong :).

Linux will effect almost nothing. you will probably need to get a Linux driver for the card but more then likely it is on the disk that is shipped with the HD 4550.

very much so depends on the amount your willing to spend. look on www.tomshardware.com to see the benchmarks for specific games you want to play. It shows the fps for each card tested under specific graphics settings.

newegg will quickly determine the price of any graphics cards.|||The ATI 5750 is $150 and it will be able to handle those games you mentioned well, plus it's got DirectX 11. On a cheaper note you could try a NVIDIA 9500GT or a NVIDIA 9500GTX (GTX is better)|||3870 worked fine for me for years, 4870 is still a really good card too, depends on how much money u have. but the 3870 would do fine for those games|||The ATI cards. They're cheaper than Nvidia and have great performance. Try the ATI HD 4550.

Would you recommend this video card for moderate gaming?

What's a real good video card for a decent price?

I want to go out and buy a real kick *** video card (one that's gonna last me a good handfull of years before i need to change it again), though judging from the looks, I'm gonna have to buy a new power supply too. So if i had 200-300$ for a video card, what would you recommend?

Some card that are 512M are worth more than the ones at 1G. Why is that? is it purely because they are a generation older, but more recently designed (i heard sumthing that an xx6800 is better than a xx7000, judging solely on its numbers at the end - question of its generation).

What card would you suggest?|||Video memory size is far from everything.

Some of the smaller 512MB cards are faster and better than the 1GB cards.

If you had 200-300 bucks, spend 150-200 on the card and the rest on a power supply.

I have an ATI 4870.

I bought it maybe 7 months ago, it costed me $265. These are now prices around $100 less than that, and it required me to get a new power supply.

This card runs everything, I mean everything, maxed out.

and yes, the nvidia card numbering scheme is actually pretty helpful.

An 8600 is about as good as a 7800. The first number means the generation, the second number means the type of card.

Second number reference:

8 - Gaming card

7 - Budget gaming card

6 - budget gaming/video enthusiast card

5 - general graphics adapter, 5 and lower are not really meant for gaming.

4 - HD video enthusiast card

The lower they go, the cheaper and worse they get.

get a newer generation, ie. 8000 series, 9000 series, GTX 2xx series.

The 8800, 9600, 9800 and all the GTX will come with power adapters, they need special power pins, and if your power supply doesnt have them, you can plug 2 of your standard 4-pin connectors into a 6pin adapter.

The GTX series require 2 of the 6 pin power cables, so if you dont have that many 4 pins to convert from, youll need a new power supply.|||NVIDIA 9800 GTX. Quite cost-effective, is at or is near the top of its series, and still going strong today! I have one and prices are lower now, and I don't think I need to upgrade it for another year and a half at least.|||head on to newegg.com where you can browse around for deals on graphic cards. plus all the reviews are on there. good luck.|||first question: http://alrightdeals.com/Item.htm?Id=S3_V…

but I replaced the heatsink with a fan/heatsink and it works great.

second... 512 with slow ddr is worse than 512 ddr3... look at the type of memory it uses... generally the higher the speed of the memory, the better the card.

as far as the numbers at the end... they are just numbers for record keeping (and for selling crappy cards to suckers)|||The higher the model number, the faster and more powerful the chip is. New generations, where the first number is higher, just means that the chip has some new feature, but you still end up with a slower low end that can't beat anything with a higher model number from the previous incarnations.

512mb of DDR3 is going to be more expensive than 1gb of DDR2, for instance. PCI-E costs less than AGP. AGP costs less than PCI.

If you're looking to use modern games, then you have to upgrade your card every year. They're designed to do that. You can purchase two decent cards instead of one great card for about the same price, and just run them in SLI. If your board isn't capable, then perhaps it's best not to waste your money until it is replaced.

You can get a usable card for about $50. You can get a decent card for $125. You can get a fantastic card for about $350. You can get two usable cards for far less than the other two, and it'll outperform either.|||I would get a GTX 280 or a 4890. The reason that some cards cost more than other cards that have a higher memory than itself is because it is faster than the other one. Say that I have a 2GB card from 2007 but it's slower than the one with 1GB because the 1GB one can handle more streams and has a higher memory clock(64-bit, 128-bit, 192-bit, etc...). Also its memory type is more modern and much more efficient than older types.|||You can't compare cards solely on mb/gb of video ram. Where one may have 1GB as compared to 512mb the type of ram could be different, say DDR3 vs DDR5, or the core clock and memory clock speeds could be different. In the end it's really quite difficult to compare cards just by looking at specs on a website unless you've got a degree in computer engineering. For those of us who can't be bothered with the details there are a few sites that get a hold of nearly every piece of hardware out there benchmark them and compare performance. http://www.anandtech.com/ and http://www.tomshardware.com/us/ are probably the most popular. Tom's Hardware goes as far as to post a monthly article for guys like you who simply want to know what the best bang for their buck is. I'd suggest picking something off their list, brand preference (ATI vs nVidia) it totally up to you. :D

Video card: minimum RAM for gaming, and price range of low-end gaming laptops?

Im done trying to convince myself that my Dell Inspiron can support gaming. Im done trying to convince myself that Microsoft Flight simulator does not have the system needs of other normal gaming software. My QUESTION: what is the minimal video card MB capacity that can support computer gaming with maxed out texturing settings? My Dell Inspiron has a crappy 384MB videocard. Microsoft flight simulator recommends at least 500MB video card. some computers have 1000MB video card. I think I saw an HP laptop with a 1700 MB video card. Whats the minimum for decent performance, and whats the price range?|||Well, the problem here is that you're assuming the amount of video RAM has a direct relation to video card performance. This is NOT the case. You need a good, dedicated GPU to have good performance. The RAM does not matter all that much as it only helps when cranking up the texture details at high resolutions when you already have a power GPU. Those video cards that supposedly have over 1700MBs of video RAM are complete garbage for gaming as they simply share system RAM and have a piss-poor GPU. Your 384MB video card is also in this category.

You'll notice that typically there will be more to the minimum requirements than just the video RAM. Typically it'll say something like "vertex shader 2.0" or, even better, list specific models of GPUs that it supports (GeForce 7000 series, for instance)

Which video card could/should I upgrade to without going overboard on the price?

here's my current rig:

Studio XPS 8100

Intel® Core™ i5-650 processo r(4MB Cache, 3.20GHz)

Memory 6GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs

Video Card NVIDIA D11M0-30 NV G310 (512MB)|||That depends upon which game titles you're looking to play, and your power supply rating. Also, what do you consider overboard? For some people their spending limit is $150, for others it's $300...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Anything more powerful (GeForce 9800GT, Radeon 4770 and higher) require a power supply upgrade.

Most people with a Core i5 CPU would opt for at least a midrange card like a GTS 250 or Radeon 5750 (and the 5770 offers much better bang/buck) but all of those choices require spending an additional $50-$70 for a 450-550W power supply, in addition to the card cost.

As you can see by this chart, the card you have is rather low on the list...

Your equipment can support a much higher card, but not sure about the case etc.

Not overboard could mean several different levels so I will say that the 4670 will

play most games well (especially with the CPU and memory you have) and cost

from $70.00 up depending on brand etc. and a fair jump up from there would

be the 5770 in the $165.00 up range. That one has the all too much talked

about DX-11 (currently about 3 games use it, but it's what future games will be

using so it's a " got to have" for some people) and if you prefer N vidia just

look at the chart and see what is equivalent to the ones that I mentioned...

but the cost will be higher for them...

Help with what CPU and video card i should get?

I am thinking about getting the amd Phenom ii x4 945 deneb with a XFX GT240XZHFC GeForce GT 240 1GB 128-bit DDR5 video card. My only concern with the vidweo card is that it isnt direct x 11. does that matter? and also is the processor and video card good for decent gaming and stuff? is not any suggestions in the same price range? thanks :)|||The 945 CPU is more than enough to play any game out there. However, the GT 240 is kinda low end, and won't do very well in graphics intense games with any decent resolution. Directx 11 isn't necessary, but will enhance the graphics on games if they support it. (which not too many do right now). You will have to compare specs on video cards such as memory bit and speed and number of shaders to get idea of how high of performance a video card is. A decent video card is gonna run at least $150 bucks. And most decent video cards will require a 6 pin power connector from the psu because they draw a lot of power.

A video card will make or break any computer when it comes to gaming, because it does alot more work than the processor in most cases when it comes to gaming.

Does everyone know new video card Nvidia 9600GT is coming out?

Does this mean 8800GTX will fall in price because there is newer video card 9600GT?|||Yea the 9600GT is out now. It is a good budget card, probably the best now, but a 8800GT is still a great deal for performance/price ratio.|||yes i do|||and yes the older cards prices will fall..|||I doubt that the 8800s will drop in price until the 9800s are released. The high end 8800s still have the 9600GT beat|||the 9600 GT is already out.

the 8800 GTX has fallen in price

but 2 9600 GT in sli will beat it at a cheaper price

What is the Best Video Card For The Price?

I am looking to play games (high end games)? I am Planning on getting an amd 64 x2 processor? Please Help!!!!!!!!!!|||id go with the latest nvidea grafix card look on the net u can find them at a good prise otherwise ur looking at around $150 bucks|||The best price range is about $250-$300.|||you opened up a can of worms on this one. it's all in how much you want to spend. i spent 500$ on a nvidia 7800 gt when it was new on the market. now you could ge it for less. although i do also recomend nvidia. there are many more settings you can adjust with an nvidia card compared to an ati card. i run half life 2 at max settings however that was not possible until i upgraded to 2 GB of memory. if you start shopping around this line these may not run at max settings but they will look really good. the 2 manufacturers i'd recomend either evga. or bfg. they both offer a lifetime waranty.

What Video Card Should i Get for about 200$ or less?

I'm thinking of buying a new graphics card in the 100$ to 200$ price range. I'm an nVIDIA fan as i've had problems with ati. What are some of your opinions on a good video card that u would greatly recommend. also im thinking of getting the EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX or EVGA GeForce 9800 GT.Which one do u think is better? Thanks for everyone answering :)|||Hi, I will tell you the differences between the 9800 GT and the 9800 GTX.

9800 GT: It has 112 vertex shaders.

9800 GTX: It has 128 vertex shaders.

9800 GT: It has 56 textures.

9800 GTX: It has 64 textures.

9800 GT: It has 112 pixel shaders.

9800 GTX: It has 128 pixel shaders.

9800 GT: It's core speed is 600 MHz, 1.5 GHz shaders.

9800 GTX: It's core speed is 675 MHz, 1.7 GHz shaders.

9800 GT: It has a memory speed of 900 MHz

9800 GTX: It has a memory speed of 1100 MHz.

The 9800 GTX is clearly better, but not by much - in many ways they are quite similar. The 9800 GTX is ranked 7th best in the NVIDIA range, and the 9800 GT is ranked 10th best.

**************************************…

Now to other issues. Do not buy a NVIDIA 280/295 GTX, they are upwards of $500. Instead, I'd settle for what you're considering at the moment, either a 9800 GT or 9800 GTX. They are more suited to your price range.|||The gtx is better. But the 9*** series is NVidia worst . I would get any other card. Even ati, an im a Nvidia fan.|||get the 9800GTX..it is way better than the 9800GT..and the guy above me has problems O_O i havent experienced any problem with my 2 9800GT's|||Ati currently holds the fastest single card GPU [Ati Radeon 4870 X2] it crushes what nvidia currently has. But budget card should be a geforce 9800GTX .....and obviously their is something wrong with the 9000 series because the 8800 GT is $100 more expensive than the 9800 GTX which should be faster.

These are the best current cards in your price range::

ATI radeon HD 4850 1GB ($170) [Dont recommend]

---

ATI radeon HD 4870 512mb ($210)

----->

Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 ($220)

the 4870 and 260 beat each other at many benchmarks...they are pretty much tie on gaming, the 4870's weakness is lower on-board memory; their is a 4870 with 1gb of memory; for a few dollars more and it adds another 10+ FPS in games...I found it as low as $240;

top-end budgets are 4870 512mb and the 260...so....whatever you perfer cause they run around the same in speed.

Where can I find a 250MB video card?

I recently purchased Assassins Creed on PC, but my desktop computer stopped working shortly after I got the game. I have a laptop, a HP 530, and I need to know whether it's possible to upgrade it with a video card, or not, and if so where I can find one.

And a price range too.

Or do you think it's more wise to save up for a better laptop?|||Laptops are **** for games, unless its an Alienware ;)

Save up for a desktop PC for use with games, and keep the laptop as a backup internet machine and for taking outside with you so your not as bored :P

Or you could sell the laptop and use the cash to buy a new PC!!!(or an Alienware laptop,YUM!!!)|||You most likely cannot upgrade/replace your laptop video card.

IF it didn't have integrated graphics, the fact it's a compact laptop would make for finding a replacement card virtually impossible.

I would recommend saving for a new computer, or fixing the desktop.|||Your laptop likely has an onboard video card... so no you can't upgrade it. If you want to play games, I would suggest saving up for a new desktop PC and not a laptop.|||lol hp|||Thats why I got a Dell - my laptop was less that $1000 and came with a 256mb ATI graphics card.

Seriously though, I really doubt you can get a graphics upgrade for a laptop. Check at Best Buy and with HP and see what they tell you, best of luck.

What is the lowest costing video card for the pc that can run GTA 4 at max settings?

I want to get a new video card but I am strapped for cash. Could anyone tell of a good video card at a low price that will run GTA 4 at max settings. I would prefer an Ati card, in case I wish to use it in a crossfire configuration in the future. Thanks!|||Assuming your processor is good, I'd suggest a 4870 HD with 1 gb of VRAM. I have a 4850 HD, I can run it pretty high, but not totally maxed.

You should be able to pick up a 4870 with a gig for around $150 on Newegg|||Umm... there's a LOT more to gaming than just the video card. I mean, if your CPU is garbage you could put a $500 video card and not even be able to run GTA4 let alone run it at max settings. Just get the best video card you can afford. It may not run GTA4 at max, but it'll work.|||If you want to know exactly what your going to need from every spec of a computer to be able to run GTA IV on your computer, check out this site and diagnose your computer:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ref…|||Its not just your graphics card that makes a game run well. It mainly makes the game look smoother and better.

Your whole system needs to be fast. A graphics card will help but is useless without the appropriate cpu and ram to back it up...

Get a program called "userbench encode 2009 for windows"

run it get your ranking. See how much of your hardware you actually need to update.

But if you think its just a graphics card you need i would get somethign like Ati Radeon HD 4800 series. like mine i run GTA 4 max settings :D.

Sparkle GeForce 9400GT 1GB DDR2 Low Profile PCI Video Card price in india?

is GeForce 9400GT 1GB DDR2 Low Profile PCI Video Card available in india then whats the best price of this card.

i m using intel p4 2.0ghz with 1.5 gb ram. i have only pci slot ( not pcie). will this card be able to install in my pc. and can i play prince of persia T2T, SOT with full graphic setting and nfs carbon at any resolution without any disturbance|||Franky has answered for the PCI express 9400GT. Rs.2800/- is for the PCI express one.

The PCI slot 9400GT is quite difficult to get, as these days PCI slot graphics cards are outdated. Its not even available on Ebay. And no shops keep PCi graphics cards, as no one purchases these cards these days.

And if available it would be costly, should be around Rs.5000/-

So i recommend changing your motherboard, and get a new one which has PCIe x16 slot. And again, is your Pentium 4 socket LGA 775? If yes, then you can get a new motherboard for it, or else you will have to change processor as well.

You can search the market, if anyone has old stock. But you will loose warranty.

And your processor is a Single core with only 2.0GHz which is not good for playing games.

My recommendation:

Upgrade to a good system. Change your processor, motherboard and graphics card.

Buy these:

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8Ghz for Rs.3200/-

Gives same performance as Intel Core2Duo E7500 which costs Rs.5800/-, but is lot cheaper and also runs much cooler. Only 35C under gaming stress, and is easily overclockable to 3GHz.

Motherboard: Asus M2N68-AM Plus for Rs.2450/-

Its an AM3 socket motherboard, so its future proof. All future AMD processors will run on this motherboard. Intel changes its processor socket with every new processor series, so that Intel can sell more motherboard with every upgrade.

Graphics Card:

MSi ATi Radeon 4350 512MB GDDR2 for Rs.2100/-

Same performance as Geforce 9400GT. Runs every game in Full graphics settings in 1280x800 resolution and lower. GTA IV and Crysis run in 1024x768 resolution. Has Pixel Shader 4.0 support for future gaming needs.

If you need Higher resolution gaming, then:

MSi ATI Radeon 4650 1GB GDDR2 for Rs.3600/-

40% more powerful than NVIDIA Geforce 9500GT. Runs every game in the world in Max settings in 1336x768 resolution.

Hope you get the best. Its no use spending 5000 or above on an outdated PCI graphics card which wont run games in High settings as the processor is also weak.|||sorry for the mistake aakash....well my name also aakash...

thank you all for your time|||EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 for $125.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||The 8800GT is still a very good card even for today's games.

There are better cards, but what is your definition of "value price"?

$100, $150, $200???

Your 8800GT is about half the price of a "better" card.|||ATI Radeon 4890|||GTX 260

When buying a video card for my comp what are the most important things & specs I should look at besides price

Should I look at core clock speed if so how much would be enough to run high level 3d games.

Should I look at memory if so how much would be enough to run high level 3d games.

What should I look at plz tell me.|||The first thing you'll want to identify is if you have an AGP slot or PCI Express. Most newer computers have PCI Express, but I'm still rocking an AGP slot. I assume you have that out of the way.

Now, when looking for a graphics card the numbers tell much of the story, but it's not always true to form. For example, depending on the quality of a graphic chip or the memory used, you might get varying results.

There's also varying degrees of "high level" 3D. Odds are you are looking at specific game or two? You can check the game's recommended graphics card levels on the box or website. They will give you two levels "required" and "recommended." Required is the bare minimum. You'll want more than that. Recommended is what they say is best. A good rule of thumb for PC games is to find the recommended specs, and then boost up your power a level or two. This way you won't be lagging behind completely 1 one year. But PC games the way they are now, 2 years is about as long as you'll ever get at "high level."

Memory is highly important, one of the key features of a graphics card. I'd recommend a minimum of 256mb at this point.

Now I could talk specs with you all day, but your main concern here has to be price. Graphics cards that can play any modern game on the shelf today range from $100 to well over $700. What is the difference? Well that $700 is going to be BRAND NEW and have every new piece of technology out there. The $100 card, while serviceable, probably is on it's dying breath and will need to be upgraded to play next years games. The question is, are you going to want to play a specific game now? Are you looking to the future? And how much are you willing to pay for future proofing?

Another item to consider is that a new graphics technology, DirectX 10 is JUST coming out. If the future if your concern, you'll want a card that features this technology.

In short: the number one thing you want to look for is a good price to performance ratio. You can do this by researching reviews and all the technical numbers that these kind folks will feed you. A good sweet spot for graphics cards is typically $200-300. More than that and you're paying to be an early adopter. Less than that and you're buying an already outdated card.

I've avoided using specific numbers, due to the fact that "high level" changes every 6 months. And it varies greatly depending on what game you are wishing to play. World of Warcraft is an entirely different beast than F.E.A.R.

I've linked a great source for you to check graphics card reviews. Often times you can find the card you are looking for and see how it stacks up to other cards of similar price and features.|||Ah, sorry, I thought you meant you knew price was a consideration.

If money is no issue, the GeForce 8800 is an absolutely gorgeous card. It will run you over $600, but it has DirectX10 and will steamroll through any of the latest games.

Buying new motherboard and video card?

My current motherboard only supports AGP video cards. Rather than just buying a really good AGP video card, I think I am going to upgrade my motherboard to PCI and get a new video card. I really dont want to spend a lot of money, but I want to buy something that will last me for at least too years. What is the best video card and motherboard for me to buy that is a decent price but wont be completely useless in a couple of years?|||It is not a good idea.It is hard to find a motherboard that has a PCIe slot and has the same CPU socket as your old one plus the same memory technology. Most likely you have to upgrade them all ;so you better buy a better video card for your existing board.|||http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

More information on motherboards,(reviews), and video cards are at Hardwaresecrets.com,Tomshardware.com,PCm… Majorgeeks.com, Extremetech.com, just to name a few!|||You don't provide enough info. We need to know the *socket type* for your current CPU so that we can recommend a motherboard (MB) that is plug-compatible with your current CPU. If you also want to use the same RAM, you need to let us know the type and speed of the RAM in your current system as well. Finally, we need to know the form factor of your current case (or MB) so that we can recommend the correct size replacement.

You can probably find a MB that will meet these requirements. However, you may find it far more satisfying to upgrade these components. You should be able to do this for about $200. That's a new Intel socket motherboard ($82), a Core 2 Duo e2160 ($77), and 2 GB of top-drawer CAS 4 RAM ($52). I just ordered these myself last week. Think about it. You can add a decent video card to this setup for about $100. Video and MB alone will cost you roughly $120 - $600, depending on how much you're willing to spend on a graphics board.

Will an Emachine T3616 be compatible with XFX GeForce 8600 GT Video Card - 512MB DDR2?

I am asking this question because I am thinking about buying this video card. If you can offer a better video card that would be compatible with this model of computer, at about the same price, ATI is acceptable by me too, then could you offer me some tips on them.|||If this computer was already made and you bought it yourself then the chances are no .this is because the computer will have been made already to meet a specific requirment.. You will have to see what kind of motherboard is built in, and what power supply there is. When upgrading a computer it is always better to have a custom build as you have asked for each specific item. I had an emachines and it was impossible to upgrade, because 1, the motherboard was a never heard of make and 2 the power supply was not enough.

Also i was told that computers already made were likely non upgradeable.

Radeon HD 5770 Video Cards different kinds Same Card?

I've been looking for a video card lately and have found the "Radeon HD 5770" series. There is different kinds of Radeon HD 5770 cards such as, "XFX Radeon HD 5770", or "Sapphire Radeon HD 5770", and theres even more! When I compare them, the specifications are the same.

MY QUESTION IS, are these Radeon HD 5770 cards the exact same thing besides the name and price?|||The XFX and Sapphire are brand names. XFX are one of the best. there warranty and support is top notch also.

Sapphire is good as well but i would not rank them as high as XFX|||No they are not some of the graphics cards that have different endings such as XFX etc means that they can be overclocked to perform at higher frame rates etc. It can also mean that they have different heat sinks made by different companies such as artic cooling for better heat disperse. P.S I really would look into getting into Geforce graphics cards because over hall they beat ATI graphics cards when it comes to the heat produced :)|||The XFX and Sapphire are brand names. Different companies using the same 5770 series chip, in their own card. Difference sometimes is not that big - usually its either what cooler comes on the card or sometimes one company will factory overclock their card to push a bit more horsepower than its competitor.|||The video chip set on the cards is the same. Different makers may use slightly different drivers and may include different amounts of video ram on the card.|||yes they are virtually the same. But i would recommend a Sapphire brand one because they are very reliable and usually last the longest.|||Slight differences like low profile. I would get the one with the more memory low profile and HDMI out.

Can you run 1 video card on an SLI motherboard?

I am building a computer and i am buying a 8600gts. I want to SLI it but im going to buy one video card when im building the computer and the other around Christmas or when Nvidia drops their prices. Can i buy an SLI motherboard and keep one video card in it for the time being? or do i have to buy them both at once?|||You can install only 1. when you get the 2nd, and after you plug the video card into the mb slot, you will then 'bridge' the 2 cards together (on top) w/a connector provided with the cards.

good luck!|||Yes, its set-up for 1 video card by default. I have 2 SLI boards and neither have 2 video cards. Don't spend your money on 2 8600's, get 1 8800gt and you'll be happier.|||YES, anytime. AND by then, even the 8800 series would also be cheaper.|||Yes you can run just one now, and put the second in later. Just a note though, two 8600GTS in SLI will be easily beaten by a single 8800GTS. Just thought you might want to know that, in case it effects your decision in any way.

Will a 30mm tall video card fit in my HP Pavilion a6242n Desktop?

I found an HD3850 video card at a great price but how do you fit a 30mm card into a normal slot? (No I'm not talking about the PCIE x16 slot) I am talking about the slot on the case. Do I just put it in like any other video card?|||30 mm= 3 centimeters, or about an inch.

are you sure you measured correctly?

the 3850 goes into a PCI-E slot, not any other slot..

its easy to put in the slot, first, you open up your case, just slide it into the slot firmly, pulling the little lever on the side if you have to.

Then connect the six pin PCI-E cable to the card and you are done! (if you don't have the cable, then your power supply is not powerful enough. also, make sure you installed the drivers for the card)

What's the best video card for the price right now?

I was only looking to spend about $30 after shipping for a new video card for my computer. I don't do much gaming, but would like to get the best card for the money just in case. I just don't keep up on the new equipment enough anymore to be able to make a good decision on my own. I use pricewatch.com to purchase most of my parts usually. It has to be an AGP card. Which one would you get?

Thanks in advance!|||There are no good cards for $30... Card that cheap (like the GeForce FX 5200 and Radeon 9200) are just obsolete crap, literally a waste of money. You're better off saving until you can get a $55 card.

Unfortunately, AGP cards cost more than PCI-E versions of the same model, because there aren't as many manufactured.

The GeForce 6200, Geforce 7300GT, Radeon X1650 and Radeon 2400 are decent low-cost cards, the Radeon 2600XT is better. The Radeon 3850 is hands-down the best AGP card, but that's a $110 card for gamers.

You best bet is probably looking for a used card on Ebay or Craigslist- something that was $75 brand-new might be available for $30ish, but for Ebay, you'll still have shipping costs.

Here's a possibility- 6 days to go, though:

The 5200s are cheaper but they perform significantly worse compared to a 6200.

How do i find out what kind of video card that I have?

I have a Dell Latitude C840 and I want to upgrade my video card. My video card is now 32bit. I want to upgrade to 64bit. How do i find out what kind of video card that I have ? and what are the price range of 64 bit video cards?|||Hit windows key + r, and type in dxdiag. In the display tab you'll see information about your video card.

Almost all recently made video cards are 64 bit compatible, but check before you buy.|||First of all, the only thing that determine how many "bits" a video card is, is the operating system that you're using. All cards can be either 32 or 64 bit cards as long as they have the appropriate drivers.

As far as identifying your card model you can either open your case and look or you can click Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Information.

Please keep in mind that your processor is going to be a bottleneck in getting good video performance, so I wouldn't spend too much money on a video card. Can I remove and replace the video card driver free no $ ?

When i was in secon life ,there was a warning that said "You need a new video card driver!!!"Even when i see a video in the internet it slows down.I don't want Regcure or the Spy one. They just give you a free scan but,I need to remove the problems free no cost or price.|||well, first you have to identify what video card you have. download GPU-z and identify the name. it will either be by nVidia or ATi. if it's by ati then visit the first site at the bottom and select your card, if it's by nvidia then go to the second site at the bottom and select your card. if your card is not found in any of those sights, than search it in google and type "drivers" next to the card name.|||Hmm, ignore those warnings they are usually just adverts. Id suggest taking these two steps.

Firstly if you do need a new graphics card driver, your graphics card manufacturer supply them for free, usually on their website. Just get the make and model of your card, (Control Panel > System > Device Manager and look under graphics cards) and do a web search for the latest driver. Once youve installed that the slowing down problems might be sorted.

Get a free spyware remover, something like spybots search and destroy. That will scan and wipe your system for free.

Ash|||just find the brand of card, look up the company website and you get all the drivers for free.

regcur charges you for finding the driver, not the driver its self, pretty smart actually|||got to the video card manufactures site and download the new driver for your card.|||If you do it yourself then yes.|||http://www.opendrivers.com/category/12/d…

Mobo: Find a mobo that has 790GX chipset and SB750 south bridge because it has the best integrated graphic card out there. But make sure the mobo supports the cpu.

GPU(optional): Since 790GX already has a decent graphics you don't need it. If you want dedicated graphixs find ATI Radeon HD 5750. If you really want 512meg memory look for HD4850 or 5870 but 5750 or 5770 is the future

PSU: I strongly advise changing your PSU. It is the only part of the PC that you just can't cheap out on. Unless you want a broken PC. Use this as a guide

What is the best video card and motherboard for me to buy that is a decent price but wont be completely useless in a couple of years?|||u can buy a nvidia 8600 gts for ~$170, an asus M2N-E SLI for $100, if u need a new processor an athlon x2 5000+ is a good option, ~$110.

this pc is good for 2 years. and u'll play even crysis at good resolution and graphics.

u'll probably need around $380 plus shipping.

*a 2gb memory ddr2 800mhz is around $80-$100 if needed.

i feel envy about u living in a rich country.. here in brazil all products i listed here cost over double the price.

nvidia 8600 gts for example is around $390-420 from a very cheap vendor. not to say people here r used to earn ~usd$250 a month, thats humiliation.
