Is it worth the money for the video card upgrade?

looking at getting the Visiontek Radeon HD 3870 Video Card - 512MB GDDR4 from bestbuy for $150. but the Visiontek Radeon HD 3870 Video Card - 1GB GDDR3 online sells for around $400. is it really worth the $350+ price tag?|||Yeah, that's a lot of money to drop on a video card. If you have that kind of cash just layin' around, it would certainly give you bragging rights for in game chat ;). If not, I would stick with a cheaper one that is nicer than your current one, and you should be able to run most games at a decent framerate.

You should check out the video cards on Newegg, you will probably find a nicer one for cheaper compared to BestBuy|||The difference is that the DDR4 is faster, so the 512 version is faster in almost everything. The only exception is if you have a VERY large monitor (bigger than 26") then you need the extra memory. If your monitor is 26" or smaller (1900x1200 or less) then you are better off with the 512 meg version with the faster DDR4. Don't waste your money! Get the 512 and have fun gaming :)|||in all honesty is it worth it is a question you should ask yourself. what do you plan on doing, if you play very graphic intense games, such as crysis, F.E.A.R., or something along that line then the extra cash will be pretty worth it. although gddr4 is faster, 1gb of gddr3 still provides better performance over 512 mb of gddr4. if you are just a casual gamer, you could probably actually spend a little less then the cheaper one and still have a good gaming experience. it's up to you.|||I don't think so in my opinion. Anything you get will nicely run virtually any game considering these are both cutting edge cards. I assume you have a crappy one so anything new will exceed your expectations
