What is the best video card?

My video card is outdated and before playing my games (half-life series) it suggets I get a new video card. I currently have:

nvidia GeForce4 mx 420

know any cards that are good in performance but still in a reasonable price range...I want the best card for the least money..thanks!|||Geforce 7600GT is the best for performance per price..|||the Geforce4 mx440 is an agp card, so you will be limited in what you can upgrade to. Most cards these days come in the pci-e variety, but it is still possible to find the older agp cards. I recommend the nvidia 7900gs or the ati x1950. They are the best agp cards still available. Check www.newegg.com and tigerdirect for some other possiblities. the 7600 is also decent.|||lots of choices, i have the 8800 gt ochttp://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/03/t… 512mb and lovin it|||Unfortunately, the card you have is an AGP connected card

There really arent many out, but check this article for more info

after you select your card, newegg.com is really great for computer parts|||You have AGP, (assuming the above are correct) unfortunately, this is pretty much what you're limited to http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis… Watch for product ratings.

In all honesty, if you're playing alot of games, I would suggest trying to find a new motherboard that is PCI express x16. Or better yet (especially since that gfx card is old, I assume your computer is as well) a new CPU or computer. It sounds like your system is pretty antequated.|||Be sure that you know what kind of slot you have in your computer.

There are basically 3 kinds of cards really.

1. AGP

2. PCI

3. PCI Express

Once you find that out shop for it. I am guessing you have pci express but to be sure download program below and it will tell you.
