What feature in a video card am I looking for to know if it's compatible with 3d computer monitors?

I want to look at different video cards and pricing, lot of them say 3d in the title, even the older ones.

My question is what is the name or feature in a video card that lets you know it's compatible with 3d monitors? I want to be able to tell the difference between non-compatible cards and compatible cards, almost all of them have 3d somewhere in the listing.|||It's definitely confusing with the phrase 3D thrown around a lot. Graphics cards capable of rendering 3D visuals isn't exactly the same thing as being able to create stereoscopic 3D. However, cards that can have also been around a long time. For example, the GeForce 2 GTS card I purchased nearly 10 years ago came with active shutter glasses, but it was merely a novelty then.

If you're out shopping for a graphics card today, look for Nvidia cards sporting the 3D Vision logo. AMD doesn't really have a stereoscopic 3D solution right now.

Current 3D Vision compatible cards:

GeForce GTX 480

GeForce GTX 470

GeForce GTX 465

GeForce GTX 460

GeForce GTS 450

GeForce 9800 GT

GeForce GT 240

If you have your eye on gaming, I'd stick with the 460 or up. That should give you some breathing room for tomorrows games.|||"He who once persecuted us is now
