Is this a good video card and sound card for the price. I just want to play counter strike above 100 fps.?

Open Box: MSI NX8500GT-TD256EH GeForce 8500GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Silent Heatsink Video Card

$47.99

Open Box: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE SB0570LPVP 5.1 Channels PCI Interface Low-Profile Sound Card

Audio Chipset: Audigy

CD/Aux In: Yes

Digital Audio: 24-bit

$22.00|||no considering in big firefights my 8600 would drop me down to 60fps (like smoke going off, people shooting, 32 player match). unless u have a kickass cpu and like 2gigs of ram then im not sure its gonna keep u over 100fps constantly.

What video card should I get?

I have been looking to get a new video card recently and I can probably afford anything under $200. I Have been looking forward on buying bad company 2 and want the best thing at my price range that can handle it. I believe I'm currently running on ddr2 with a pci-express video card. Can somebody help me?|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||EVGA 512-P3-N973-TR GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

It's a Newegg, take a look at it!

What video card should I go with?

I currently have an EVGA GTX 460 but want to run two video cards. Problem is my motherboard doesn't support SLI, it does support crossfire though. So, what video card should I buy two of? I want each card to be on par or a bit better than the 460 but want to remain price effective. Also, is a 750w psu enough to run two cards?|||if your motherboard supports Crossfire, then buy an ATI Radeon card, go with HD6000 series, it's a beast for extreme gaming, but if you don't want to replace your old card, buy a new mobo.|||Please take ATI card. Its the best solution as it seems to me.|||if you have crossfire, use ATI video card

What's a good price range for upgrading my five year old desktop's video card?

i want to play some online games (guildwars!!!) without my computer lagging like crazy. about how much should i pay for a video card that can play guildwars/ wow? plz help!|||I play guild wars or at least I used to...

The problem may be more then your video card like what processor do you have I'd expect a pentium 4 and 512MB-1GB RAM.

If you don't have that it's not your video card.

But as for video card for a good one expect it to be about 200-300 bucks anything less then 200 will be garbage in most cases.

What video card is a good upgrade from a 7800gt?

I need a comparable, price to performance ratio, to the 7800gt in today's video market. I have not been keeping up with the latest video cards. can some of card owners', with similar cards, suggest what you have upgraded to.

Also did you notice any change in quality in terms of texture mapping, AA, anisotropic filtering, shader, etc?|||The only card worth purchasing @ this point would be the 8800 GTX. You can run DX10 @ the hardware level, but you have to get Windows vista, and a DX10 game, in order to take advantage of the cards new technology.|||you might want to keep it for a while longer.. i have 7600 and it does a good job with any game|||I'd recoment an 8800 GTS, its really good if you dont want to spring for the best card on the market, but you still want something with extreme performance, and DX10 support.|||buy nvidia 8800GT, great performance, while price is not too high.|||I just went from a geforce 7300 to a EVGA geforce 8800 gts superclocked 640mb the other day. I got it for $429.99 and a $30 mail in rebate from tigerdirect. This card is AMAZING! If you want that directx10 you will have to get Vista but I think you might want to wait until service pack 1 is out. Also with the step up program that EVGA offers you can upgrade your card to the 9 series when its out as long as its within 90 days, and you only have to pay the difference.|||Ok, I first had a 7800gtx with amd fx 60. it was fine with most games. After that I moved to a brand new system and bought a intel core 2 duo with 7950gx2. It played my games alot better but they didnt look better.

Now, I own a 8800gtx overclocked a bit. I now can run HDR with antialiasing. This makes a huge difference. And with shader model 4 or dx10 out now, the 7800 can not produce it.

I will say if your not in a rush wait till atleast Nov when Crysis is out. But if your itching to get a new one the king out there, the 8800gtx is best video card period. It blows away the compition in every thing. Look at the demo of this card at www.nvidia.com

What is a good video card for a reasonable price?

I am looking to buy a new video card... something that can run Mass effect 2, dragon age, and Wow on high - max settings at 1680 x 1050.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150467

That is the card I have been looking at, it's within my pricerange of 100-120$ and seems to be a pretty good card from what I can tell.

Just want to get some opinions on if that card can do what I want it to or if I should look at something else of equal price... My other system specs are good so no worries there.

Also looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102866 and wanted opinions...|||A nVidia GeForce GTS 250 smokes both your cards and it costs less.

What would be the best quality and price Video card for a Video gamer?

Right now I have an intigrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Its not that good. I'm relize how expencive VCs are now but, what is a nicely priced video card that has DirectX9 Vertex Shader or Pixel shader 2.0 support and a minimum of 128 MB Video ram that dosn't feed off the main computers RAM?|||The Intel Extreme Graphics 2 has performance close to that of NVIDIA’s GeForce2 MX400. I assume you have AGP 8x. The limit to the quality you can achieve will depend on how much you're willing to spend, although it wouldn't make sense to spend more than $50, because you should be looking forward to getting a relatively cheap AMD or Intel motherboard and a 64-bit processor with, of course, PCI-e.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were a convenient chart for graphics cards that would let you easily compare their performance when playing a selection of graphically intense games? There is! Go to the following page at Tom's Hardware, pick a game you really want to play, pick two processors that are within your price range, and voile, you'll know which to get:

http://tinyurl.com/3dazqk

And if you can, buy a more expensive, higher performing card that comes with a good rebate so that you get it for the price of a lesser performing card. Check out Newegg.com for the lowest prices, fastest service and best customer support.

Also, up in the right-hand corner of that web page you'll notice a list of other charts to check out, for CPU's and such. You might also want to check out their article titled, "The Best Gaming Graphics Cards For The Money: October 2007", in which they break them down into price ranges:

http://tinyurl.com/2fdmy6

What's the Best PCI video card for my price?

I would like to pay under 50 or maybe even 40 dollars for one, any ideas?|||For what purpose? For watching movie clips and playing basic older games, a GeForce 8400GS is ok.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

There aren't any really good PCI video cards, at any price. The PCI interface itself is a huge bottleneck (33Mhz bandwidth), so no PCI cards exist which can handle newer games like Modern Warfare 2 or Aion. Even a $100 PCI card runs worse than a $40 PCI-Express or AGP card.|||Would that be PCI or PCI-E?

For the same price, should i get two 512mb 128-bit video cards or two 256mb 256-bit video cards?

For the same price, should i get two 512mb 128-bit video cards or two 256mb 256-bit video cards?

-The cards would be running crossfire.|||On the subject of bits & the bus width between the GPU and the memory , the bit width is only a part of the equation . How fast the memory "moves" is also just as important. Faster clocked memory on a slower bus width is as fast as slower clocked ram on a wider bus width.

For example, if you had 256MBs of DDR2/3 on a 128bit bus, but its clocked at 500MHz (1GHz DDR), it would be as fast as 256MBs of DDR2/3 on a 256bit bus if that memory is clocked at 250MHz (500MHz DDR).

Make sure you cards are ATI CrossFire Certified components. ( see link one )

Well If I were going to build this combo , I would go with the cards that have been released later , i.e. the " newest " ones.

For the simple fact that ( mostly )older cards have older chips

and use older drivers and tech. While the new cards can be a pain sometimes ( lack of support ect. ), you are buying something thats not going to be outdated as soon as you install it :) lol

So i'd say go with the two cards that are the more current on the releases list . P.S. just what cards are you thinking about , I could not really compare , or test which set up is " better " without knowing what I am to compare :)

However im leaning towards the 256- bit set up but i want to know what motherboard/ram/HD/monitor/ect these beasts are going to make a home in to give a better answer !|||Its hard to tell without knowing what cards youre choosing...

But i'd say go for the 256's. 512MB gpu ram should be fine for most games and you'd probably see a big difference in 256bit cards|||Judging from TomsHardware

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_s…

You may be better off getting a high-end single board.

Note: average fps from Tom's

HD 2900 XT - 1751 fps - under $400

X1950 XT crossfire - 1836 fps - over $410, not to mention the big honking PSU

Check stats for your favorite too-slow games, and see how they compare. My prices are from newegg, include rebates, and may be outdated. Personally, I'd rather have the slightly cheaper and cooler single-board. You can always upgrade *it* to crossfire when prices drop to < $100 for the 2nd board.

Whats the best Graphics card for my price range?

I want to get a video card for ganing but can't decide witch one.

My price range is from $90 - $120

I will consider both ATi and Nvidia|||i have idea wtf they even made the 6790 for, 6850 are noticeably faster and cheaper usually. so id go with a 6850 for 120, or you can get 6770 for 85|||ati 5830 is better than 6790. And It only cost $115. I own it and can play crysis 2 in high setting. Of course, U have to get a dual core|||6790 is good. Coming in at 130$. GTS 450 for about 110$ is good.|||You should check EBAY. It is really hard to beat their deals and I have never been cheated yet.

Anyone know of any good Video cards for its price thats under 200 preferably around 100?

my video card burnt out anyone know of any reallly good video cards for its price nothing over 200 but id prefer around 100 lol thats equal or better than the geforce 8600GT which im using right now made for gaming|||Well from what I understand, you're looking at one of 2 cards:

ATI Radeon HD 4830

Passmark Score: 1249

Passmark Rank: 23rd in the world

newegg.com price: $98

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

ATI Radeon HD 4850

Passmark Score: 1332

Passmark Rank:21st in the world

newegg.com price: $115

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Just for fun, here's the rating of the nVidia GTS 250:

Passmark Score: 1114

Passmark Ranking: 31st in the world

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_…

Price: $115 (-$15 Mail-in rebate) = $100 after 3 months of waiting

It costs the same as the HD 4850 but just can't beat it. Sorry again nVidia, ripoff pricing still is in effect I see.

NOTE: Nothing nVidia makes matches these cards at those price points nor do they match the Radeon HD 4870 at $155 further up but you said keep it near $100 so I did. You'll need a 450W power supply. And I think someone is trying to SELL you a card, kinda makes you wonder who he works for when newegg.com already sells a GTS 250 for $110 without it being on sale.

Have a Dell Inspiron 530s would like to purchase I video card at very cheap price..?

I am looking to get a video card for my dell inspiron 530s pc. Something good but not too exspensive. Could you give me some suggestions. Also i found out that with most cards I will have to purchased I power supply of 400 to 500w. Its a little difficult... I would like to know if there is any card I could purchase that is very good... but may not require me to get a new power supply at least right now. Ive seen on the internet there are some that you know dont have to get a new power supply but it would be a plus. Definitly in the near future I will consider it but if there is an option to maybe avoid it.. I would gladly go for that.

Brand new computer also and really dont want to gut the entire thing when it is not even a month old.

Suggestions anyone?

Also I was considering maybe purchasing one on ebay... any questions I should ask??? New to the video card thing... Should have gotten one installed... when I first purchased it I know have no idea why I didnt... well ... Thanks!|||The problem is you need a low profile card. I think the best low profile card is an 8600GT. If that draws too much power for you (50W max?) the HD3450/3470 would be best.|||Requirements

Minimum of a 350 Watt power supply.

(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 18 Amp Amps.)

Minimum 400 Watt for SLI mode system.

(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amp Amps.)

Copied this from your link-Yes 350 Watts but 18Amps on the 12V rail-that's what you have to check.

The GPU mentioned are good-I would get them.

What video card would be good for me to buy within my price range and needs?

I need a new video card due to a multitude of complications. First my computer doesn't work, then I take my graphics card out, and poof it works. I've determined that the reason the port on the graphics card didn't work was because a pin from my cable got jammed in there...anyways, I'm looking for a graphics card that would be either around or just above the $200 dollar range, would be compatible with the basic stuff like the Sims 2, would be compatible with spore when it comes out, and have overall good video quality. It's AGP so thats gonna be a problem but...|||The top choice would be GeForce 7800GS 256/512MB

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…|||Nvidia Geforce 7600gt (300-350 watt psu with 20 amps on main rail)

Ati Radeon 1800-1950(any models) (400-450 watt psu 22 watt on main rail)

Nvidia Geforce 7950gt (400-450 watt psu 22 watt on main rail)

Those are basically the best of AGP the order of quality is, 1950gt(130-140+tax), 7950gt(130-140+tax), 7600gt(100+tax)

Going purely off internet prices, shops tend to charge more

Pardon grammar; its late.

If you're gonna play spore, I'd reccomend 7950gt or 1950gt, but keep in mind spore may be direct x 10 and agp has maybe 2 cards that can run dx10 and they're both on the lower end (I believe one is the 8600gts)|||if the AGP graphics port connection is faulty on the motherboard, it would be better to get a new MOBO instead of getting another card to insert into an existing AGP port thats faulty. If it's the AGP card that is faulty, then buy a new graphics card. The best one is ATI x1950 512 mb video card and has enough ummph to play the more current crops of games like Call of Duty 4. Sims 2 you can buy a cheap Nvidia 6600 GT or 7600 gt card if you're on a tight budget.|||The best prices around are found at pricewatch.com. I suggest you go there and click on the video cards option. You'll find more different types of cards than you might ever have imagined, and you'll find where you can get the new card at a very competitive price. For $200 there, I believe you could find a very capable video card, probably with more capabilities than the one that came with your computer.|||Ok I agree you may need to purchase a new motherboard but anyway here's a link to 512 mb AGP video cards all of which fall into your price range (some even have direct x10 built in) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

What is the Best video card out?

i have the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX and i am thinking of linking it with another top of the line video card. price doesn't matter i just need to know the BEST of the BEST video card that is out.|||The GTX 295 is the best card in the world at this point. Keep in ind that you can only use SLI with two of the same cards. What you would have to do is use the GTX 295 as your main card, and then dedicated the 8800GTX for PhysX.|||The best video card is always the one that comes out just after you bought your new card. Seriously Toms_hardware does an excellent review of video cards and updates them regulary. The answer is either the latest Nvidia or the latest ATI. Neither win all benchmarks and neither are fastest on all games, the drivers are often optimized for specific games. so there is no 1 winner, either card will be a great choice. The current Nvidia is the GTX 295 and teh ATI is the HD4890.

Remember that it is possible to get the same performance from cheaper cards by buying 2 and runing in SLI (Nvidia) or Crossfire (ATI)

Why can't you buy online?Retailers tend to be 25% - 50% higher than etailers. If it's because of credit reasons, just go to your local Wal-Mart or CVS and buy a prepaid Visa or Mastercard. You'll have to pay a small fee but it would be worth it.You can buy computer parts alot cheaper online. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 896MB $221

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 1GB $250

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 1792MB $500

Gonna be used for gaming. Sims 3, Spore, etc. Trying to figure a price on a decent self-built gaming computer. Thanks.|||well, most enthusiasts are gonna say "get the 295" right off the bat or at least the 285.

But i would actually go for the 250. That puts out pretty well, even better than the 9800 and most games don't even need the 9800 for recommended requirements.

the 250 is also the lowest powered one, requiring only 450 watt PSU i think. (particulary if you choose BFG brand)

If power requirements aren't an issue and you really want to push games at high settings, you might consider the 275, but any more than that is probably overkill|||Personally I would go with GTS 250 1GB or the GTX 275 they are cheap enough and you won't need to upgrade them for quiet sometime. You can go even lower to run those video games. I own 8600gt and on just on dual-core processor they run great even on a single core processor that I have also they run flawlessly, you can't really pull off though highest settings with one core but they will run. 8600gt (low profile) costs like 40 bucks.

Better yet I would go with 9600gt low profile low power, it's pretty hard to get though but it only needs 60w and runs very fast, but because it's really hard to get it's close to the cost of GTS 250 it's sold on e-bay in UK and Australia for about 140 bucks, but since you looking at these high graphics cards I would go with the original 9600gt or 9800gt.

Of course 9800gt is superb and it's pretty cheap too.

Good luck.|||For those kinds of games (Spore, Sims, World of Warcraft) you don't need anything above a GTS 250... which can be found for around $125 these days. And you can get identical performance to a GTS250 from the $100 (after rebate) Radeon 4850.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

The GTX 260/Radeon 4870 and higher are only needed for really high-end titles like Crysis, GTA IV, Assasins Creed, Call of Duty 5, Age of Conan etc.

Best bang/buck cards in each price range:|||i would go for the gtx 275 but if the gtx 285 is only 29.00 bux more thats what i would go with....thats more then enough to run the games listed there, but you probably wont need a upgrade for quite a while..especially if you decide you wanna start playing crisis or gta 4 then your prepared and it wont cost you any money.......and thats the whole point really.......jmho.......

Is dual video card really worth the price?

really what i am asking is the difference between having just one video card and having two of the same video card running. in this case, lets use GeForce 260 as an example.|||The difference is performance. It depends on how much of a gaming enthusiast you are. Most people don't even need a dedicated card, in fact, the GTX 260 is already pretty high-end considering its price. That said, using nVidia SLI or ATI CrossFire just allows you to put up to three/four video cards together for additional performance. Typically, the performance increase is about 30-50%, never 100%. The more GPUs/cards, the less increase per additional card, which is why dual video cards is typically the most recommended. Granted, two consume more power and cost more than one...|||Th performance is only really noticeable when you have 2 or more monitors running. Just buy a better graphics card, it is cheaper.

In short: No.|||It truly is. two 9800gts of the 1GB variety. They're cheap now and its more than enough for games these days.|||no, not unless you want to be a total geek and invest in something totally useless, i mean 1 gfx card is enough, but if you have the inner urge to be super elite and invest in another $200 gfx card that no one will ever see or care about, then yeah go for it.|||yes

What video card do I need to run all games on MAX settings?

Just ran into some cash and want to get a computer that will last me awhile. What card should I get that can play all games on max, at the best price? Will a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 - 2GB do it? It seems the best priced.

Thanks.|||No GTX 460 Cannot max out on crysis 2 and NFS Shift 2. Best is the minimum Ati radeon 5870 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or GTX 470. For best performance, I always go with the GTX 560. It can play any games maxed out on 1920X1080 resolution and still get excellent FPS. I say go with the GTX 560

Best price for GTX 560 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

thats really superb.

Hope this helps

ADD* - GTX 460 2GB can max out on all the the games but you will feel like hitting the computer cos you will not get a good FPS on MAX resolution.|||Yes it will, at least most of the current games will run without stuttering as it has high dedicated memory.|||just because something is pricey doesnt mean its good, it could easily be outdated... look for something that is more than 1gb and that is capable of handling directx11

What is a cheap video card around $100?

I was going to get a new video card in march because my evga 8800gt died the other week. what is a card that is in its price range? nvidia doesnt sell them anymore but i would like a couple of computer games with it :)|||You should be able to find a 9800GT which is identical to the 8800GT. They run like crazy in SLI! Doesn't EVGA cards come with a lifetime warranty? I would suggest going to their support page first.|||geforce nvidia 7200 50$|||Provided you have money left over after buying the $120 Antec 900, then you should just get this 9800GT for $100-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It is exactly the same as the 8800GT, everything single feature, except the core is 55nm and not 65nm.|||I just saw this on ebay it's a 9800gtx for $128 free shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/PNY-Geforce-9800gtx_…

Or you could go with a HD4850 which is actually better than the 9800GTX and is slightly cheaper too. Take a look: http://cgi.ebay.com/SAPPHIRE-100245L-Rad…

Either one of these cards will play pretty much any game with everything maxed out, provided you have a fast cpu to keep up with them.

High End Video Card for a Micro ATX Mobo?

I am looking for a good video card for a micro atx mobo. I am looking to play COD 4 and the onboard video card will not meet requirements. Can someone point me in the right direction of a good one that will fit. The mobo supports PCI Express. It is also in a micro atx tower. I was told that all extreme high end graphics cards will not fit. Looking to stay in price max of 250. Help!|||try a 8600gt, it isnt as big as the 8800's and under 200, but get the 512 mb version.

What is the difference in video cards depending on price?

I found some video cards for ddr2 motherboard for 160$ and others for 60$. I m looking for one with s-video capability. Which one do you recommend as being the best?|||well first you have to ask yourself what am i using this video card for? Gaming, regular usage, home theater.

Then you have to compare video cards and there are 5 different criteria your looking for

1) speed (core clock) measured in Mhz

2 Memory - can range anywhere from 64 mb - 2 gigs

3) Effective Memory Clock - thats how fast the data is traveling from your motherboard to your video card

4) What formats of video encoding. Directx 9, 10, or 11 and/or open GL

5) what outputs you need D-sub, DVI, S-video, HDMI, mini display

If you just looking for a low end video card that your just going to surf to web and need just a little power http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500118

i think this would give you the most bang for the buck. about 87 dollars

What video card can i buy for my laptop?

HP Pavilion dv4-1117nr entertainment notebook pc

because i got in the black friday sale but i was disapointed to find that it doesn't have a video card (i think) so which one could i buy? for cheap price?

mobile intel (R) 4 series chipset family

thats what it has, can it be upgraded?

|||None. There are no 'slots' in a notebook/laptop for video upgrades.

There are some talks of "external video card" that goes into ExpressCard slots, but so far none have reached market. |||Laptops very rarely have replaceable video cards. All of the electronics is built into the motherboard.|||No.

Video card price in India?

1 GB video card,i have windows XP and graphic card 1 gb please|||for a 9400GT 1 GB DDR2 ,it is around Rs.2000 to 3500.

What is the most important thing to look for in a video card?

ok well im looking at getting a new video card. i look at all of them and wonder ok this one has more streaming processors but this one has a fast core clock and shader clock. or the memory has 256-bit then 128-bit. but there around the same price. what should i look for that will give me more bang for my buck.!

Thanks!|||I would say the price/performance ratio. Money is important, after all.|||I'd have to say how much VRAM or Video Memory it has and what connectors it has, the more the better the card and better for future use. Also the MHZ of it is also nice.

Basically in computers typically the higher the numbers the better.

Video Card replacement for laptop?

I have a Compaq Presario F700 with a GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M and this video card is just terrible. I want to get a new one for a low price, but while shopping for a new one, I have run into different ones and I don't even know if they can get in my laptop. How do I know which ones will work in my laptop and which ones don't?|||First! there is no actually Graphic card in your laptop.

Graphic cards are made for Desktop computers that actually go into a slot on your motherboard.

Laptops have a Chip that does the graphics that is part of the laptop motherboard (they don't have room in a laptop for a card to come out).

So what does that mean? It means you can't replace your graphics on your laptop with out really just buying a new laptop. I think there might be some computer companies that you can send them your laptop and they can replace your motherboard with a new graphics, but that would cost almost as much as a new laptop.

Realize that laptops aren't build for gaming. Some Gaming laptops are, but most aren't! Graphics uses up more battery life. So there is no reason to put it in most laptops.|||you can't they are built into the motherboard|||They all don't work.

A laptop is virtually non-upgradeable for graphic cards

If you have an expresscard slot, ASUS has made a few external graphic cards.|||Contrary to what some say, some high-end laptops have graphics modules that can be upgraded. Unfortunately yours isn't one of them.

Video card?

Hi folks.

I have a question for you'all

I am looking for a MSI GeForce FX 5600 for my PC with Foxconn motherboard. I search in google ... every where but i couldn't find any with cheap price!

oh, just to let you know, if you are planning to game on that system, i would suggest something that is atleast the same or better than a 5600. Try the Geforce 7600, its like 150 to 200 on www.newegg.com

Or a 6600 GT which is like in the 80s on newegg to maybe even 130 bucks

they get a little better as they go up in price|||mwave.com also is excellent.

hi guys, i have a dell dimension 4600 desktop from like 2001/2002 and im considering getting a new video card for it but don't know which one to choose. im afraid ill have compatibility issues and such. i also want one thats mid-priced and sort of a new model, not too old b/c it might not perform too well. PLZ HELP!|||im assuming you have

Dell Dimension 4600 (Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, XP Home)

with that

i would personally go with an ATI card

because you get more "bang for the buck" as they say

and i would go with

either the 2600 , or the 3870

both of which are amazing cards

i've owned them both recently

now i own the 3870x2

i would suggest the 3870 right away

because its a lot better

but im not sure if you'd really be getting your moneys worth

due to the fact that you have a P4

so you might be limited by your CPU

and if you havn't already

upgrade to 1.5gb or 2gb of ram as well, possibly faster memory if you think needed

What's the best motherboard and video card available for gaming??

u got money?

then

Intel Pentium D 840 Presler

it is stock around 2.8ghz or so

but extremely easy to overclock to 4.1ghz or higher

then i would suggest Mushkin Extreme or Redline

or OCZ Platinum/Gold Edition

which ever.

and for your videocard

haha, give this a try

2 7950 GX2s

OR

2 7900 GT2s

they both have 1gb total even though they are really just 2 512mbs

(no videocard has 1gb just to let you know)

but ur motherboard needs to support SLI

Since u wil overclock

get the DFI LanParty nF4 SLI-DR

or the DFI LanParty Expert

it will not be that great

just stick with 2

in that order|||Alienware makes the best known stuff for gaming.|||www.comusa.com cheap|||well there are differing oppinions on this, i personally would take any processor with 2Ghz or more they actually arent that expensive anymore either, brand name wise you cant go wrong with intel, you can also do dual processors to speed things up. for your vid card i would reccomend the newest radeon for first person shooters, or if your gonna be playing third person like battle for middle earth 2 i would reccomend using the newest geforce, but either way you cant go wrong, theres nothing wrong with using either one of those for either one of thos types, radeon handles down and dirty graphics really well, geforce handles lots of little details and a large amount of entity's really well. i dont have any reccomendations for the motherboard tho, i havent been checked out on them in a while so im not up to snuff.|||motherboard asus or gigabyte with crossfire chipset and run SLI

video card you can get either 512 mg or 1 g cards these cards run together. Dual channel memory highest rated for the motherboard and remember they have tested the cards with certain memory if you choose to use other than what they have tested you could get unexspected results. Video card upgrade and how to do it?

Hello,

I am using an ASUS M4A77D motherboard right now, and I'm using a really old video card. I am on a budget, so I was looking and the ATI Radeon HD5770 looked good for its price. My motherboard has a PCLe2.0x16 slot. Also, could you run me though the steps of upgrading? I'm not too tech savvy.|||Here is how it is done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ILrq7lMe…|||Check you have space around the pci-express slot as that card will probably take up 2x slots.

If you have an ATI card in at the moment, it should literally be a case of removing the old and putting in the new. If you're using nvidia or onbaord intel graphics you should uninstall the old drivers and in the case of onboard, disable it in the bios on the next boot after installing your new card.

You should also check that your PSU can deliver the power for the card, I'd say at least 500W and you'll need a 6-pin power connector from the PSU to power the card too.|||1. open your old video card

2. take a new video card & plug into the motherboard slot.

3. connection power properly.

4. start your Computer

5. click right bottom on my computer

6. click properties

7. click hardware

8. click device manager

9. upgrade your video card

Finally install your video card properly.|||1. Buy card.

2. Get card.

3. Insert card into PCIe slot.

4. Insert power cable into card.

5. Plug monitor into card.

6. Start up computer, install drivers.

7. ????

8. Profit!

It's really not hard to figure out. Just make sure your power supply is sufficient.

What does a low profile video card mean?

I saw a decent video card with a good price on newegg.com, however it says it is a low profile video card. What does that mean?|||Just means that it's a bit smaller in size than other video cards. It may not fit into your computer correctly if it's a true low-profile as it's designed for the "slim type" cases. If it's just a smaller card with the standard size securing strip (the metal piece that on the back of the card) then it should fit in yours.

Unless you're sure about the dimensions, you may want to consider another card or post the link in a question and have someone who can be sure tell you if it will fit in a normal size desktop.|||Do you know what the word "low profile" means? Well if you put that word in front of anything, it would mean it's not the average/standard size and would be a smaller height or dimensions that a typical one. So if someone had low profile Tires, well you should be able to figure it out...|||It means it is made to fit smaller cases where height can limit what can fit inside it. So the video card is shorter than most cards but will still fit into the same slot.|||it means that the video card will not take up as much space inside your computer case as would a regular video card

Does anyone know anything about adding a video card to a dell laptop?

i bot a dell laptop and their was a chep video card on it. Now i want to play games and it requires a better video card. I need to know if their is a way of installing one in it. dont matter the price.|||I was in Dell Technical Support for a year, so before you go ahead and buy any Video card, Just check whether the laptop is compatiblw with a video card.

To check go to www.support.dell.com and then put in the service tag or the express service code on the laptop in the section where it says to select a product once u put theat number in it will show u the model number for ur laptop and all the compatible hardware.

Then u can make an informed decision

Hope this helped|||Dell does not use video cards, per se, in their laptops; they use a video chipset installed on the laptop's motherboard. In order to upgrade, you'd need to find out from Dell whether you can order a motherboard with upgraded video for your laptop.|||You can only use what Dell supports. If money is not the issue, you can always buy a new laptop and sell you old one.|||it depends on what model laptop you have|||Call and ask DELL!!!!!|||If it doesnt matter about the price then buy a new laptop because chances are the laptop you have is not upgradable The grahics card is either on board or fused to the mother board. I haven't seen any you can ugrade but apparently there are some.

The may be an alternative- I have heard you can buy a USB graphics card but don't know anything about it.

What is a better video card setup?

Im looking to buy a new video card im looking to pay no more than $220.00 im looking to buy 2 Radeon HD 5570 or 1 saphire 5770 my motherboard is an asus p5nd and can support 2 videocards and both cost about the same price my power supply iz an antec 550 watt and my case iz a antec 902?|||If you're plan on gaming then go for the 5770

It's faster and not all games support multi-GPUs

Is this video card and processor good enough for The Sims 3?

I'm buying a new laptop and I want it to be able to play the Sims 3. I'm trying to keep the price low.

Video Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD

Processor: Intel® Celeron® 585 (1MB cache/2.16GHz/667Mhz FSB)|||The laptop has the ability to play Sims 3.

The CPU (Celeron 2.16 GHz single core) although not as speedy as the Core 2 Duo but is faster than a 2 GHz Pentium 4 is sufficient enough to run Sims 3.

The Intel GMAX4500HD is about 2x faster than the Intel GMA X3100 (the minimum recommended) so you should be able to play it on medium to medium-low settings just fine.|||The Graphics card is very weak, because it's an integrated one, all Intel Graphics are. Try to find a laptop which has a Nvidia or Ati Video Card. And the CPU is a bit weak too, I would prefer a Core 2Duo at the same speed range 2-2.4Ghz, those should be inexpensive too.

With your chosen settings, its likely you cant play any games at all, because Intel Graphics often gives up on 3D applications causing errors.|||Those will not run anything higher than the original Sims, so i would look into building a gaming computer with a Core 2 Duo / Pentium E5000 from 2.5 Ghz to 3.33 Ghz and a good graphics card like the 9600 GT/GSO, 9800 GT or the 9800 GTX+/GTS 250, and you will need 2GB+ of main memory as well.|||Go to Can I run this. However, personally I think You need a slightly better computer. That current spec might be able to run the game on low settings.|||No, the graphics card is too week, and I'm pretty sure that, that processor is no longer available..So yea..

What Video Card would be best for my Intel D946GZIS motherboard?

I've been looking for a nice upgrade for my Radion 1600 series video card, but have no idea how to go about finding out what card is compatible with my Intel D946GZIS motherboard. I'm attempting to make my computer more game friendly, but am unsure as to what video card to buy / which cards are compatible. The price of the new card doesn't matter, as long as it works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance|||As the others said, according to intel you have a PCI-Express 16X slot, which will allow you to use any new graphics card.

http://www.intel.com/products/motherboar…

Now one dude recommended the 8800GT, which is a great card and an excellent value, especially considering it's down to $140 with MIR. It is quite fast and will max every game but Crysis and Flight Simulator X (which just sucks no matter what you play it on, so I hear). The 8800GT will pull high in Crysis. There is only one problem with the 8800GT, that being that it draws a fair amount of power, and if you don't have a good supply, it might overdraw and be useless.

Two less expensive options are the 9600GT for $125-130, which is about 10% slower than the 8800GT, and draws far less power, and the Radeon HD 3850 which also draws much less power, costs $100, and is about 20-30% slower than the 8800GT. I personally have a 3850 and am very happy with the performance, as it maxes every game I have including Bioshock and Frontlines.

Links to Specific Cards I recommend from good brands:

Gigabyte 8800GT 512mb with Nice Quiet Cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

MSI 9600GT 512mb with Sweet Cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Powercolor HD 3850 512mb with decent cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

You can calculate how much power you will need vs how much power you have using this power supply calculator:

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalcul…

Just set capacitor aging to 20% and load to 100%, add a few usb devices and fans, and you should get a nice conservative power estimate. That board is a regular desktop board by the way.|||Your board supports PCI-E which is the conection currently used for almost all graphics cards. so this means that your wallet is the limit, pick whichever card you want. a great value si the Nvidia 8800GT, its crazy fast for the price, its not the newest model, but definitely the value king, think about $250|||Your D946GZIS motherboard has one PCI Express 16X slot according to Intel's specs: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboar…

That means you can use any PCI Express graphics card, up to and including the latest-greatest nVidia 9800GX2.

Hope this helps.

What is the best video card?

If you could get any video card(s) that you wanted for the purpose of graphics, without any limit on price, what would you get?|||I would 4-way SLI a GTX 295, which would cost around $1050 to do and require an insane power supply.

However for the best bang for the buck, a single GTX 260 or Radeon 4870 would be the best.|||sorry..but you are wrong to a degree..

the best set up would have to be 3 GTX 280..

many game out now do not use the fourth GPU in Quad SLI configurations..|||Personally I would go with a ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 much better than the Nvidia GTX 295. And If money was no object get a board that supports as many as possible and Crossfire em.

What's the best choice for a video card hd 4870 or hd 4850x2?

hey guys I have about 235 dollars to spend in a video card. I'm still between the hd radeon 4870 and 4850 x2. they are both around the same price please help.

I'm not interested in nvidia their prices are totally insane you can get nice performance with amd/ati cards thanks|||The 4850X2 is faster than both the Radeon 4870 and GTX 260 - it's the pick for that price, just make sure you've got a good power supply.

Note that Tom's Hardware picked the 4850X2 as the best PCI-E gaming card for $300, even before price cuts made it available for under $250.

Always get the best GPU power you can afford... having a card so fast that your CPU doesn't achieve the maximum theoretical framerates isn't really a problem. It just means that if you upgrade the CPU someday, you'll get a bump in performance. It's the opposite scenario you want to avoid, where a weak video card is bottlenecking your CPU.|||You don't need a crossfire capable motherboard to run the 4850x2, please ignore the guy that said you did.

Also, like the other guys said, the 4850x2 will outperform the 4870 in optimal circumstances. However, not all games are optimized for 2 gpus, and those that aren't will run considerably worse on a 4850x2 than on a 4870. Keep in mind that 4850x2 does NOT show the performance increase of a 4850 multiplied by 2.

Personally, Id prefer a single more powerfull card like the 4870. It's easy to overclock, it has lower temperatures due to beeing a single gpu, and you'll never run into problems with games that aren't multi-gpu capable. Plus, ATI does a very poor job of keeping drivers updated with multi gpu capabilities, and keeping up to date with game manufacturers. Nvidia does a much better job of working with developers to release drivers. Also, a single 4870 keeps the option open for an additional 4870 in the future for crossfire. Having a 4850x2 means you won't be able to buy another 4850x2 because crossfiring those would mean 4 gpus, and nothing is optimized to run on 4 gpus, it would just be a waste of money.

I don't know what you mean by Nvidia's prices beeing insane. If you look at performance charts, they're high end cards are usually better than the ATI equivalent, and only cost marginally more. I have a GTX 260 core 216 and I'd take this any day over an ATI 4870.|||'There is also one thing to keep in mind if you are going to go for a dual-GPU monster card. First off, you'll need some good hardware behind it to keep the video cards running at optimum performance (a Core 2 or Phenom around 3 GHz, with 4GBs of RAM is a good base to work with.) Otherwise you might as well go for something less expensive, as you will not see as a significant performance gains if you can't keep feed that video card data fast enough.'

dont forget the card will consume about 250W+ on load so a very good PSU i would recommend

otherwise the HD 4870|||i'm pretty sure that 4850 x2 runs faster than a single 4870. if you have a crossfire capable motherboard, you might want to get another 4850x2 and have a crossfirex setup in the future. hehe..

What video card works great with TeamFortress two?

I am looking for a video card at a fair price that doesn't overheat|||First of all - all graphics cards overheat. You just have to have proper airflow or cooling to compensate, and that should be included.

As for a graphics card for HL2\TF2, I would recommend the NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT. It is going down in price and only costs about $120-$150.

the HD 4770 is one of the best but i thinking of the 5000 series because of it's DX 11 support. what do you recommend? under 100 bucks or under 5,000 pesos.|||You're not going to find a very fast video card for under 100 bucks...A DX11 card under 100 bucks would be a waste of money because it would be too choppy to run DX11 settings in the first place. The best bang for your buck card would probably be the Radeon HD 4850 though.|||hands down, the 5770 is best bang for your buck. GDDR5 VRAM, DIRECT X, 1GB. i have it. i love it!!!

Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced AGP video card that supports a resolution of 1440X900?

My LDC monitor supports a max resolution of 1440 by 900 but it seems that many video cards won't support this mode. Also, the card needs to be supported by Windows Vista.

Thanks in advance!!|||Ok so usually the problem with resolutions aren't inside the hardware video card itself, most usually they are within the software or driver, so I suggest you stick with downloading the latest drivers. But if I were to recommend, use ATI Radeon or nVidia GeForce MX / FX 5200|||If you want a high resolution desktop buy a NVidia Graphic Card..|||try nvidia

Tigerdirect.com|||Basically any Nvidia or ATI card will work under vista with the proper drives, it will require a fairly hefty card to run aero and the latest games however. On Nvidia's or ATI's site, check the specification table for supported resolutions. Also modern graphics cards should be able to push nearly any resolution if you force it in windows ( by unchecking hide unsupported modes) or using a third party utility, just make sure not to crank the refresh rate too high or you could damage the monitor

Is it possible to improve my integrated video card on my laptop?

I have an integrated intel HD graphics video card on my Acer 5745. Most 3d games run pretty choppy. Is it possible to get an external video card slot for my laptop? If so, what am I looking at price wise? and While I have you here, what will a decent video card itself cost me?|||No, it's not possible. If you want a gaming laptop, you have to buy one.|||Unless you have mastered extremely delicate soldering skills, no, it is not possible.

Besides even if you did, the thermal efficiency would not match.

I recommend a Asus when it comes to gaming.

The GPU and fans are very powerful on their gaming systems.|||Sorry im not sure "/|||Typically laptops can't be upgraded GPU-wise. Overclocking them is risky because you risk burning out the main board. Unless it's specifically able to, usually the Acer lines have a (G) next to the model number for the ones that can be upgraded graphically. They use MXM slots, but it is RARE for a laptop to have that. I have an Acer 7520-5757 myself. So no unfortunately no way to improve the graphics itself...... However!!!

Acer laptops are NOTORIOUS for heat build up, mine was running nearly 100-110 degrees for GPU which is INSANE. If you're handy with small tools and careful with pins and stuff, and are capable of taking a laptop apart. Do this. Get some Arctic Silver (about $25 for a small tube, yea expensive but SOOO worth it, it last a long time too, depending how much you use of course) After you've peeled away the outer shell and are looking at the bottom, where the CPU and copper tube go to the GPU thing, careful with them. Then usually the GPU will have a thermal pad on it, little piece of plasticy looking thing. First clean off all the old thermal grease (usually the white cheap stuff) make sure the dies are shiny, then apply one good sized drop in the middle of the die on both the CPU and GPU, the GPU isn't really SUPPOSED to have thermal grease but I put some on anyway even with the thermal pad in the way, then make sure everything is snug and clean, you DON'T want any of that arctic silver lapping over the sides as the silver will create contacts with other parts and lets just say that's not good...... Once you've applied the arctic silver on both GPU and CPU dies, reinstall the copper tube assembly, this is what propels the heat from the GPU and CPU to the fan and pushes it out of the laptop. Clean the fan as well, might as well since it's already opened right? Careful as those blades break easy, use a soft toothbrush or something. Then basically put everything back together.

Download Speedfan by the way, nice easy way to monitor your temps.

I did that to my Acer and I literally went from 100-110 on STARTUP!! Down to 60-70, yea I was 105 normally on just sitting on the desktop, no games, no nothing, just looking at my desktop was 105 degrees, playing WoW was all kinds of choppy and went to 110-112. Did that and I idle at 61-62, still gets to about 80-90 if I'm playing WoW or something on it, but it's actually playable at 20ish FPS instead of the 5-10 I was LUCKY if I got before.

I HIGHLY recommend reapplying arctic silver for anyone with an Acer with graphics that run choppy, it won't make the GPU play more advanced games or anything but it will improve the cooling, and you will get some more FPS out of it. Don't expect to play a Crysis or BFBC2 or something, but playing WoW or other less graphic intensive games should run ALOT better.

If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, bring it a PC repair store and tell them that you just want them to put new arctic silver (make sure you tell them arctic silver) grease on your GPU and CPU. If you go in knowing what you want done, it's cheaper and easier, if you go in there like a customer they will want to diagnose and charge for this and that, and all you need is to get that arctic silver on, and I can almost guarantee GPU performance improvements.

Good luck!

I'm not a gamer, I'm just in the market of a new laptop. I use if for work and play - Work = Designing stuff for print and keeping my website up and running, and Play = Web Surfing. Do I need to worry about a high end video card? It seems like I don't and that might make the price of a good laptop a little less. Thanks in advance.|||It really won't matter for you. As long as you can watch a video on the web with no problems, and aren't playing very memory-intensive games, then don't worry about upgrading to a better video card.|||From what you say, no, you don't.|||It does not matter IF you are not interested in the new graphics in Vista. Then it matters a lot. I suggest not being interested myself, but that is the reason you need to worry about it.

Alright im upgrading from a radeon x300 pci-E in a dell dimension, i dont want a geforce, and i dont want a card that requires a seperate power source. Ive settle on this one POWERCOLOR PCIE HD2600XT 512MB DDR3

Anyone with experience can give me a yay or nay answer about this card or other cards around the same price that could be better ?

Thank you|||The other option to get is the 7600GT. You can probably find one for ~$80. Yes its not DX10, but the 2600XT isn't fast enough to run DX10 code fast enough anyways. (meaning if you are buying the 2600XT to play DX10 games, you are wasting your time/money.) I'm not sure why you said no nVidia cards, they are fine to use. The 7600GT is about the same speed as the 2600XT, its just cheaper.

Other then that, the 2600XT is about the best you can get for ~$100. It would be better for you if you could spend more and get the x1950pro for about $140, but you'd need a new PSU for that, which would end up costing your $200+ total. Don't bother getting the 8600GT, it might be the same price, but its a touch slower then the XT.

EDIT: I didn't list any video cards that are above your PSU abilities. I did mention the x1950pro, but I also mentioned you'd need to buy a new PSU to run it. 2600XT/7600GT, those are your best bet.|||Hey bro, I just got the ATI Saphire 2600xt, it plays games such as oblivion on HIGH, its real great and quiet. Plus you cant beat the $100 price.

Can the ATI hybrid crossfire technology of AMD 780G chipset lift X1950 video card to DirectX10?

I am planning to buy a dx10 video card and i am choosing between mid-range priced cards like 8600GT and HD2600XT. But according to forums I have read X1950, which is priced same as the two, is way better in terms of performance. So will ATI hybrid crossfire tech make X1950 play DX10 games?|||No the X1950 does not support DirectX 10.

Please note that DirectX 10 only works on Windows Vista.|||You can play DirectX10 games, but you won't have access to DirectX10 features (meaning the games would only play like you were on DirectX9). Given the options, I'd probably go with an 8600GT, nVidia cards tend to be better overall. But if you can afford to spend a bit more, a 9600GT or even a 9800GT would be the way to go.

For general usage and watching movies etc, a Radeon 5450 is fine.

If you're a serious gamer, then you'll be looking at $100 and higher cards. Here's a list of best gaming card buys in every price range.

i recommend you to buy 9500GT cost around 3500 rs because gta iv works fine ....|||DON'T get the 1GB version of any video card weaker than a GTX 260. A 9400 GT is completely unable to use more than 512MB. If you think for one second that a 9400 GT can play Crysis at high settings with 8xAA activated, you're crazy. That's the only thing that managed to show a performance difference between a Radeon HD 4870 1GB and Radeon HD 4870 512MB. Since the ATi Radeon HD 4870 is the performance equal of the nVidia GeForce GTX 260 and can BARELY play at the level that needs 1GB, that means that anything weaker (and believe me, my HD 4870 would CRUSH a little 9400 GT. Hell it would crush ANY nVidia 9000 series card, even the GTS 250) would be a complete waste of money to get the 1GB.

Will a NVIDIA GTS450 video card run on a 350w power supply?

My computer's not too shabby, but it has a pretty pathetic video card, so I'm going to upgrade it so I can play some occasional games on it. I've chosen the NVIDIA GTS450 since it's a good balance of price and performance. My computer has a 350w power supply installed by default, but will the video card run comfortably on that wattage? If not, what should I upgrade to?|||Probably not.... Radeon HD 6670 would be fine, but a GTS 450 would probably overtax it. Keep in mind that midrange graphics cards also require a dedicated power connector from the psu, and most 350W and lower units don't have that. Higher-end cards require multiple connectors.

The general recommendation for psu upgrades these days is to install 500W or higher, although in your case 430-450W is fine. The brand/quality is very important- always go with a reputable psu maker like Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax, Silverstone, or OCZ if possible. Avoid bargain-basement brands like Logisys and Diablotek.

It's a good idea to buy something strong enough to support cards a level above the one you're considering now. With a decent 500W psu you can support any cards up to the $240 range.

If you burn it up and take other components with it, you have nothing and still have to buy a new minimum 400 watt power supply and possibly any other ruined components. That's what I'd do.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…|||i would use a 500 power supply if you have a stock computer and if you are just adding that on, and the others are right, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ATI RAEDON 5770

ps. look on newegg.com for the best prices (dont shop at best buy) they rip u off!!

and if you want to go even cheeper, the radeon 5670 is also amazing and i can run starcraft 2 on ultra settings and crysis and everything and its only about 75 dollers!!!|||It should be able to run on your 350w power supply, but, don't be surprised if the computer spontaneously powers off while gaming under load. You really should be on a quality 450-550w power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||GTS 450 is not a good balance of price and performance when a Radeon 5770 or 6770 outruns it at the same price.

And while you might be able to get away with 350w, it really isn't recommended.

Good "gaming" video card for the price?

I'm looking for a decent video card for the price. I want it to run the infamous GTA IV. I've seen it run pretty great on an nvidia 9600gt card... would this also be the first thing to consider when upgrading my PC? I eventually want to make it into a decent gaming PC. Any recommendations for hardware are greatly appreciated. d|||Yes, the 9600GT is an excellent card. I have it and it runs everything I want perfectly at 1680x1050 (Oblivion, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, Counter Strike: Source, some Crysis)

A graphics card would provide the biggest improvement, yes.|||Yeah the 9600GT is a pretty sweet card.

you might wanna consider the new intel i7 cpu if you got the cash for it...

consider

9800

9600gt as you said

8800gt

gtx260 / gtx280 .again if you got the cash

be sure to get at least 2gb of ram

i recommend 4gb

processor wise i think any dualcore will run GTA IV (coupled with decent graphics etc) but i think you would want some of the high end duals such as the IC2D that runs at 3.0Ghz or 2.66Ghz maybe the quads q6600 if you can get an i7 board so you are more future proof as all the hardware becomes almost obsolete once its shipped out...

i while ago i got a q6600 with 8600GT with 8GB of RAM but now the i7s are out i dont feel as proud lolz!

good luck with it all. happy computing!|||9600GTs are midrange cards. As far as nVidia's Geforce cards go ..I'd at least shoot for a 9800GTX+.

I've heard a lot about ATI's Radeon HD4000 series and supposably the 4850/4870 cards perform better than comparable Geforce cards.

From how I understand things on a price/performance ratio on a 20/22" screen:

HD4850 = 9800GTX+

HD4870 is slightly better than the GTX 260

HD4870 < GTX 280

HD4870 X2 > GTX 280

**I think the HD4850 or the 9800GTX+ would be the two cards you should look at. Prices for those two cards on Newegg are great.**|||ati radeon 9800 pro. 128 mb ddr. i would not reccomend this for vista and gta 4 but for xp and gta4 this card should work great.

(hint:pick it up on ebay. nowhere else.)

What video card (pci-e) would run flight simulator x very nicely at an exceptional price?

my current operating system is windows xp media center pentium d 3.0 ghz processor, 2 gigs or ram, nvidia 6600le video card, my motherboard is maxed out with ram.|||FSX is a very graphic intensive piece of software. I have tried to run it on a 7300gt256mb and it was choppy as all get out. I have a much better system and a 8800gts512mb now and I can run it on pretty high settings in dx9 and dx10. I would think that the main problem would be your processor, any decent vid card out there today will be bottlenecked by your processor, but its worth a try. you can always upgrade. good luck

How long does it take for a video card to drop in price?

How long does it take to drop $20 or more?|||How long does it take for a car to drop in price? How about a blu-ray player?

They drop the price when demand starts to slack off, it gets cheaper to make, etc. There is no definite date.|||1 year.

What is a reasonable price for this video card?

I have an 1GB Nvidia 8600 GT. I paid $100 for it 3 months ago, and it is in very good condition. I want to sell it on craigslist but I need a reasonable price. Thanks =)|||It would probably sell for about 50USD.

*This is because that there aren't much demand for this video card anymore, since the Geforce 9000 series have pretty much replaced the Geforce 8000 series.*

Hope this helped! :)|||$30-40. Why? A faster and power-thriftier 9500GT costs $40 on Newegg, and games that run well on an 8600GT will not benefit from 1GB of RAM. Seriously, who plays Crysis at 2560x1920 on an 8600GT?|||i'd say $30, but i lowered the amount because I would personally never buy a used graphics card. (primarily because graphics cards can be easily fried[ruined]).|||The price is from 45 $ to 100 $. Since it's 1GB I'd say you should sell it for 80 €$if you want to get less.. If not then give it for 120 :P|||$60. You can get it new for $80 on NewEgg.Com

What is your choice of video card in the 150-250 dollar price range.?

And would it be a big enough improvement over my current video card the nvidia 8600GT 512 mb ddr2?

Im talking australian dollars btw.|||GTS 250 and the 3870x2 are the cards i would go for cos they are both extremely good.|||I'd get two 9600 gt's and hook em up in SLI

otherwise 8800GTX, 9800GTX.

I am going to buy an nvidia video card.Which is reasonable price graphic card I should buy to run gta 4?

if you were gonna run it at breakneck speeds 9800GTX or 9800GTX+

or just to run it at normal average speeds prob a 9800gt i believe its called, check minimum system requirements and make sure those cards will work but im pretty sure they will|||you can visit the official Nvidia website and look for the card that suits your need.you can find the site by googling it.

Remember, buying a lower priced card will help for a while but soon it will get outdated and will be no more than a piece of crap.

Just try to buy any card between 3000 to 3500 INR.|||If you have limited budget, you may go for Palit 9400GT 1GB DDR2 Graphics card.

I am enjoying this card.......

That is awesome....................

What is the best video card for the price?

i want to play games like far cry 2 at max settings|||Here's best GPU per price-range right now

100 = 4830

150 = 4850

200 = 9800gtx+ or 4830CF

250 = 4870

300 = 4850CF

350 = iunooo!

400 = 9800gtx+ SLi

450 = gtx280

500 = 4870CF or 4870X2

Personally, I'd recommand going for 150-300$

Anything lower won't give you enough for farcry2 maxed

Anything higher won't be worth the price.|||9600GT. Outperforms the 9800GT. Excellent card.|||my XFX geforce 8600 gt is doing a very good job running a max settings on fallout 3 but with gta 4 its a bit lacking. i would check out the geforce 9 series cards and all those will definitely do the job.|||There's more to gaming than just a video card. You're going to need a high-end CPU as well, especially for Far Cry 2 at Max Settings. If you want Max Settings, I wouldn't go anything less than a GeForce 280GTX paired with a high-end quad-core processor.

What is the best AGP video card from ATI on the market ($200-$300 price range)?

I'm not looking for the insanely priced, highest end, custom cooled solution... just the most reasonable gaming card right now. Im confused between the xXXX and x1XXX series of cards. Also, not looking for any special video editing features, just straightforward 3D gaming.|||no problem man. these are all ATI AGP video cards in the range of $200 ..$300, the best is IMO the ATI 100-435603 Radeon X850XT 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…|||The higher the better, so if you can afford an x1900x that's be great. But on newegg, I can only find the x1600x for AGP. For ony $150|||Well... then your best bet would be to go to best buy and buy whatever they have in your price range...

They're like anything else... you get what you pay for... if you're not concerned with getting the best, then get one in the $200-300 range and you should be just fine (as long as it's compatible with your system

What's a good price for a 8800GT 512mb video card ? 8800GTs ?

I am looking to buy a new video card for under $200...|||Go to newegg.com. They have $30~$40 rebates on most 8800GT cards, plus they are completely reliable. You would probably need to spend $170~$200 for an 8800GT without a rebate.

Laptop help! Im looking for a laptop with a good processor, an exchangeable video card, good price, (cont.)?

Laptop help! Im looking for a laptop with a good processor, an exchangeable video card, good price, and a good enough power supply to support a good video card. i plan on using it for gaming, primarily games that run on the source engine (TF2, Half-Life, etc.) and my idea of a good price is around the $500 dollar range maybe max up to $750 but any suggestions?|||Good luck with that.

Why?

Your unreasonable expectation of getting a laptop with a video card that can be removed, for $500 to $750. What would EVER make you think there was a laptop like this that even existed? Just because you want one to be that price?

Customizable laptops command a premium price, because they can do more. If you wanted a completely custom laptop, one that you could remove the video card with great gaming power, you can expect to pay upwards of $6000 at Falcon Northwest http://www.falcon-nw.com/ See for yourself. Otherwise, if you want a laptop in your pricerange, try actually LOOKING at what retail stores have to offer. You will see systems with integrated parts, low to midline graphic chipsets... laptops that are designed for media playback. That is what is out there for $500 to $750. And good gaming laptops with integrated parts usually start around $1100.

So you can expect that a laptop that can be upgraded to last longer, will cost even MORE.... since laptop manufacturers make their money by selling laptops. In order to sell laptops, people need to replace their existing laptops, as opposed to being able to upgrade them. So, you either can get a laptop at a replacable price like you want, or you can pay the premium for a laptop that can do everything AND be upgraded... since a gaming laptop with a removable video card is a laptop that can potentially run any game and software.

If you want a laptop that will be used mainly for Source Engine games, you should be looking for a laptop that you won't expect to run games that come out AFTER Those games came out.

http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki…

Team Fortress 2 - Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card

Half-life 2 - Recommended: 2.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX 9 level graphics card

The problem HERE, is the processor speed. You can get all kinds of laptops in your price range that have 2.0ghz, 2.1ghz, 2.2ghz processors... but as you get up to 2.4 and 3.0ghz processors... not many programs require that much processor muscle. Games, sure. Internet Explorer? No. Windows Media player? No. Normal usage doesn't need much more than 2.0 ghz... dual core, quad core notwithstanding. A Quad core 2.0ghz processor still isn't going to run Team Fortress very well.

Now, my old 2004 Toshiba Satellite A75-s231 will play Source Engine games great. It's got a 3.33ghz P4 processor in it. However, it was a $2000 laptop when it came out. If you want to find one on Ebay (and they are out there) you will be stylin. You'll be able to get one for $300 if you look. You will have your laptop just for Source Engine games... but don't expect to play any games that require a Dual Core processor.

So, maybe you can find an old Alienware or Sager that will just meet the recommended specs, and it won't cost all that much... and you'll be able to swap out the Nvidia 7800 for an Nvidia 8800. Just be aware that you won't find anything new with a fast enough processor, for what you want to pay.

What is the price of a 512 mb / 1 gb video card in india?

i have a sis 64mb video card.i need to upgrade it to 512 mb or to a maximum of 1 gb.|||First u will have to check if ur motherboard support the graphic card of the current generation..They are of various types-AGP,PCI,PCI-E..it will be written just above the slot on ur mobo. Now if its an AGp it will cost abt 5000RS but i dont think 512 mb cards are available in AGP..the max is 256MB and that would be around 3000-4000 RS...

If u see PCI there would be the 512MB grapic card for Rs 5000..In the PCI-E segment(most advanced) there are 3 things available in 512mB.The first is which has DDR1 memory. It would be for 3000Rs.The second is with DDR2 memorey(buy this or the higher version listed afterwards). The third is DDR3 memory. It is the latest to date..IT will be available for Rs. 6000..Check out the prices of all comuter components at www.theitwares.com .The card u are talking about(SIS 64Mb )( is the onboard graphic card that is it is built in on ur mobo....

I need to get a 3d video card for my HP Compaq dc5000 mt Deskjet computer.?

I bought a game that requires I get a 128 MB Ram ATI Radeon 9600 video card or a nVidia GeForce FX 5700 or better video card. I have found several of the ATI Radeon's for a reasonable price. How do I figure out if they are compatible with my computer?|||If you go to the HP/Compaq website and look up your computer, you will find this: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs… . A good ati video card at least 256mb for a good price?

Where can i find one?|||Try Newegg.com.

They have great prices and OEM's, which are a little cheaper.

I want a decent video card (256mb) but for a decent price. Brand? Model?

I want one that is reasonable price (i am going 2 buy it on eBay so i no it will b cheaper, but i cant rly spend more than $50-$60) It needs to be able to play games like Sims 2, Doom 3 (I dont no if thats considered very high end) Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, with no problems. Basically higher end games, I want one that will last me so paying a little more with be worth it so I dont' have to keep replacing it to upgrade. Something that would enable me to enable features like lighting things and high def sorta stuff. I would prefer an nVidia but any better card, please tell me. I have PCI slots or a PCI-Express slot available for this.
